Creighton, 16/17 DePaul, St. John’s remain perfect in league play, Villanova picks up second BIG EAST victory.

St. John's 71, Georgetown 54 
Off to its best start to conference play since 2012-13, St. John’s remained undefeated (3-0) in BIG EAST play with a home win over longtime foe Georgetown (4-10, 1-2 BIG EAST). The Red Storm (10-4) never trailed in the contest thanks to 18 points from Qadashah Hoppie and 14 points, 12 rebounds from Alisha Kebbe. St. John’s shot nearly 43 percent on the evening while winning the rebounding battle 44-33. The Hoyas saw three score in double figures with Nikola Kovacikova posting a team-high 15 points off 5-of-8 shooting.

16/17 DePaul 80, Providence 67 
Behind Sonya Morris' 21 game-high points and 20 points from Dee Bekelja, DePaul defeated Providence 80-67 in front of a FS2 national television audience. Entering the game, DePaul (12-2, 2-0 BIG EAST) represented the top scoring offense in the BIG EAST, while Providence (9-6, 0-3) represented the top scoring defense. The Friars held the preseason favorites nearly nine points under their season average but the league’s most accurate three-point shooting contingent had an off night, knocking down just 6-of-22 (.273) from deep. Mary Baskerville led PC with 20 points and seven rebounds. The Blue Demons hit the 80-point mark for the 10th time this season and remain atop the league ledger in scoring at 87.9 points per game.

Creighton 72, Marquette 62 
After posting 27 points in the third quarter, the host Bluejays (11-3, 3-0 BIG EAST) didn’t trail again to hold on and knock off Marquette on Friday evening. Jaylyn Agnew’s hot start to BIG EAST play continued with a game-high 27 points to go along with nine rebounds and three assists. Through three conference games, Agnew is averaging 27 points to lead all BIG EAST players. Marquette (9-4, 0-2) saw a trio of players score 12 points, including Selena Lott who added eight assists and five rebounds. Over 12 game this season, Lott leads the BIG EAST with 5.8 dishes per game.

Villanova 61, Seton Hall 55 
Mary Gedaka and Maddy Siegrist combined for 38 points and 17 rebounds to lead Villanova (7-6, 2-1 BIG EAST) to a road win over Seton Hall on Friday afternoon. A one-point game with 1:19 remaining, Raven James hit a clutch three for the Wildcats to give VU a 58-54 advantage. The Hall (9-5, 2-1) got no closer than three the rest of the way despite a trio of double-digit scorers, including Shadeen Samuels who finished with 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. The Wildcats made 10-of-30 three-point attempts, marking the third time in the last five outings VU made double-digit triples.
