Xavier's Freemantle, Marquette's Lewis Earn MBB Weekly Honors

NEW YORK – Xavier forward Zach Freemantle has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week for leading the unbeaten Musketeers to a 3-0 week, including a victory at Cincinnati in the Crosstown Shootout.  Marquette forward Justin Lewis has earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors while helping the Golden Eagles to a victory over fourth-ranked Wisconsin.
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Zach Freemantle – Xavier, F, So.
Freemantle averaged 18.0 points and 9.3 rebounds in wins over Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee Tech and at Cincinnati, while shooting 62.2 percent (23-of-37) from the field. He scored a career-high 24 points in the Eastern Kentucky contest and finished with 16 points and nine boards at Cincinnati in the Crosstown Shootout.
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Justin Lewis, Marquette, F, Fr.
Lewis tipped in a missed free throw at the buzzer to propel Marquette to a 67-65 win against fourth-ranked Wisconsin.  He scored a game-high 18 points.  For the week, he averaged 12.0 points and 10.5 rebounds while shooting 57.1 percent from the field.  Earlier in the week, he grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds in an 80-72 loss to Oklahoma State. 
 
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Christian Bishop, Creighton, F, Jr. – Averaged 14.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week.  Had 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting and eight rebounds in a win over Omaha (94-67).  Shot 11-of-14 (.786) for the week.
 
David Duke, Providence, G, Jr. – Averaged 18.0 points and 4.8 rebounds as the Friars posted a 2-2 mark last week. He also was 22-26 from the free-throw line (84.6 percent). He scored a game high 28 points in the Friars' win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Dec. 5.  Duke was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Maui Invitational after averaging 14.7 points3.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists in three games.
 
Julian Champagnie, St. John’s, G-F, So. – Averaged team highs of 23.3 points  and 6.0 rebounds in a 2-1 week.  Scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 97-93 win over Boston College.  Made 51.0 percent from the field and 12-of-13 from the foul line.  Had 25 points in a loss to BYU.
 
Sandro Mamukelashvili, Seton Hall, F, Sr. -- Averaged 20.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in a 2-2 week.  Scored a career-high 30 points in a 98-92 overtime win at Penn State.  Scored 25 points and 10 rebounds in a loss at Rhode Island (76-73).
 
Justin Moore, Villanova, G, So.
Averaged 17.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week, including 19 points to help spark a win at No. 17 Texas (68-64).  Made 6-of-9 from the floor against the Longhorns.
