NEW YORK – Xavier forward Tyrique Jones has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Villanova forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl has been selected BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.  Jones was a force in the Musketeers’ win at 10th-ranked Seton Hall.  Robinson-Earl wins the award for a fourth straight week.   
     
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Tyrique Jones, Xavier, F, Sr. – Jones averaged 16.0 points, 16.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks while shooting 77.8 percent from the field in a 1-1 week.  In a 74-62 win at first-place Seton Hall, the senior made 9-of-10 shots from the floor and scored 19 points.  He pulled down 18 rebounds, the highest total in any league game this season, and blocked four shots.  The 6-9 forward had 13 points and 15 boards in an 84-82 double-overtime loss to Marquette.     
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Villanova, F, Fr. – Robinson-Earl had 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds in a 79-59 win at St. John’s.  He followed with six points and 10 rebounds in a 76-61 loss to Creighton.  For the season, the 6-9 forward is averaging 11.0 points and ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in rebounding with a 9.7 mark.  He ties Seton Hall’s Eddie Griffin (2000-01) as a four-time consecutive Freshman of the Week winner.  Syracuse’s Carmelo Anthony has the league record with five straight awards in 2002-03.
 
BIG EAST Honor Roll                                                                                            
Sean McDermott, Butler, F, Sr.
Tied a career high with seven 3-pointers while posting 25 points and eight rebounds in a win at Georgetown (69-64).  Had 10 points and seven boards in a loss to Providence (65-61).    
 
Ty-Shon Alexander, Creighton, G, Jr.
In a 76-61 victory at Villanova, was the only player with a double-double, posting 16 points and 10 rebounds.  Made 4-of-6 from 3-point range.    
 
Jahvon Blair, Georgetown, G, Jr.
Posted a career-high 23 points to help Georgetown rally from a 17-point deficit to beat St. John’s (73-72).  Averaged 15.5 points, shooting 50 percent from 3-point range.     
 
Markus Howard, Marquette, G, Sr.
Averaged 24.5 points and 3.5 assists in a 2-0 week.  Had his 10th 30-point game this season with 31 points in a win over DePaul (76-72).          
 
Luwane Pipkins, Providence, G, Gr.   
Scored a game-high 22 points in a 65-61 victory at Butler.  Made 4-of-9 from 3-point range and was 10-of-10 from the foul line, including six free throws in the final 27 seconds.
