Butler’s Baldwin, St. John’s Champagnie Earn Final #BIGEASTmbb Weekly Honors

NEW YORK – In the final weekly conference honors of the season, Butler’s Kamar Baldwin has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week after averaging 24.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week. St. John’s Julian Champagnie has been tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for a second straight week after averaging 22.0 points and 9.0 rebounds. 
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Kamar Baldwin, Butler, G, Sr. – Baldwin poured in a career-high 36 points and made a game-winning 3-point basket with 1.2 seconds left in a 72-71 win at Xavier in the regular-season finale.  The senior hit 5-of-7 from 3-point range for the game.  Baldwin also had 12 points and five rebounds in a 77-55 victory against St. John’s.  For the week, he averaged 24.0 points and 5.5 rebounds.  In BIG EAST games, he ranks third in the league in scoring with a 17.9 average. 
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Julian Champagnie, St. John’s, G-F, Fr.  – Champagnie averaged 22.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week.  In an 88-86 win against Marquette, he posted his fourth double-double of the season with 22 points and 12 rebounds and made a critical defensive play on Marquette’s final possession of the game.  Champagnie also scored 23 points in a 77-55 loss at Butler.

Marcus Zegarowski, Creighton, G, So.
Averaged 21.5 points and 6.5 assists in a 2-0 week that included helping the Bluejays capture a share of the regular-season title.  Shot 16-of-20 from the field, including 9-of-11 from 3-point range.  Had 23 points in a win over Seton Hall (77-60).   
     
Charlie Moore, DePaul, G, Jr.
In a 1-1 week, averaged 14.5 points and 4.5 assists.  Had 15 points, including four free throws in the final 21 seconds, to help defeat Marquette (69-68).  
             
Alpha Diallo, Providence, G, Sr.
Averaged 21.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in a 2-0 week.  Scored 25 points in a win against Xavier (80-74).  Had 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists in a victory over DePaul (93-55).     
      
Greg Williams, Jr., St. John’s, So., G, 
Averaged 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals in a 1-1 week.  In a victory win against Marquette (88-86), posted 17 points and four steals.       
       
Saddiq Bey, Villanova, So., F,    
In a 2-0 week, averaged 19.0 points and 3.0 rebounds.  In a win at Georgetown (70-69), made a clutch 3-pointer with 1:20 left.  Had 20 points in a victory at Seton Hall (79-77).
