NEW YORK – With the results of Friday’s crucial league regular-season finales, the bracket is set for the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship Presented by JEEP. Liberty, ranked eighth nationally, nailed down the No. 1 seed with a 2-1 victory over 16^th-ranked Old Dominion.  Temple earned the No. 4 seed thanks to a 3-2 overtime win over No. 20 UConn, its first win over the Huskies since 1989.

Despite the loss, UConn wrapped up the second seed in the championship while ODU is seeded third.
The 2021 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship Presented by JEEP will be hosted by the University of Connecticut at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex on Nov. 5 and 7.  The tournament champion receives the league’s automatic berth into the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship. Connecticut has won the last nine championship titles dating to 2012. UConn last hosted the BIG EAST Championship in 2013.

Liberty finished the regular season with a 7-0 conference record, the Flames’ first unblemished BIG EAST mark.  The Lady Flames are also the top seed for the first time.  UConn and Old Dominion both hold 5-2 league marks, and the Huskies earned the second seed because of a 2-0 victory over the Monarchs during the regular season. Fourth-seeded Temple is 4-3 in the BIG EAST.

Temple visits Penn and UConn hosts Delaware on Sunday in their regular-season finales. Liberty and ODU have concluded their regular season schedules.

Top-seeded Liberty meets No. 4 Temple on Friday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m. No. 2 seed UConn battles No. 3 seed Old Dominion at 4 p.m.  The winners meet for the conference crown on Sunday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. All three games will stream live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports.
