Christyn Williams dropped a career-high 31 points on 12-of-14 shooting as UConn (2-0) opened Battle 4 Atlantis play with a lopsided win over Minnesota on Saturday. Evina Westbrook added 16 points for the Huskies (2-0), who led 31-30 midway through the second quarter before closing the half on a 16-5 run. The Huskies kept the spurt going in the third, posting the first 16 points of the quarter. UConn shot .623 on the afternoon and outrebounded Minnesota 34-19. Following the game, No. 23/22 South Florida defeated Syracuse 77-53 setting up a top-25 showdown with UConn in the second round on Sunday.

Villanova 55, Saint Joseph's 39 
Lior Garzon scored a career-high 26 points to lead Villanova (1-2) to a road win over Big 5 foe Saint Joseph’s on Saturday. Garzon tallied nine points from the charity stripe, going 9-of-10 from the line. Leading by one just over 90 seconds into the second half, Villanova went on a 13-2 run to boost its lead to double digits, where it would remain the rest of the way. The Wildcats held the Hawks to just five fourth-quarter points. VU assisted on 13 of its 19 made field goals and shot .404 on the afternoon.

Boston College 85, Providence 73  
Janai Crooms collected her second double-double of the year with 17 points and a game-high 10 rebounds but it wasn’t enough as Providence (1-3) fell to regional foe Boston College at home on Saturday afternoon. The back-and-forth battle saw seven ties and five lead changes, with the Friars leading as late as midway through the third and as close as two points away in the fourth. The Eagles were dangerous from deep, hitting 50-percent (9-of-18) of their attempts from beyond the arc. PC’s Kylee Sheppard posted a game-high 18 points while Alyssa Geary joined her in double figures with 11.

Austin Peay 68, Butler 65  
Butler (0-4) outscored Austin Peay 23-12 in the fourth quarter, but their comeback would fall short on Saturday afternoon allowing the Governors to escape Hinkle Fieldhouse with a 68-65 win. Alex Richard scored a game-high 17 points in 23 minutes of playing time to lead the Bulldogs. A balanced BU scoring attack also saw Trinity White with 10 points, Kendall Wingler with nine and Tenley Dowell with nine. Down three with 20 seconds left, Butler had the opportunity to tie it, but a turnover and foul sent Austin Peay to the line for the clinching free-throws.

RV/RV Colorado 69, Marquette 53  
The Golden Eagles (3-1) dropped their road opener, suffering their first loss of the 2021-22 season on Friday night. After an even first quarter, the Buffaloes (3-0) gained separation in the second quarter as they used a 9-0 run to take a 33-25 advantage into the half. Marquette eventually cut the CU lead down to as few as four points but were unable to regain the lead. Jordan King led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 16 points, shooting 6-of-13 from the field and 3-of-6 from behind the arc. Her three 3-pointers tied a career high.
