#BIGEASTwbb Tournament Bracket Announced

Dramatic regular-season finales solidify 11-team bracket; action tips off on Friday from Mohegan Sun Arena.

WBBT Bracket
NEW YORK –
The bracket for the 2021 BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament presented by Jeep was set on Monday night. Mohegan Sun Arena, located in Uncasville, Conn., will host the conference postseason for the first time, with games set for March 5-8. Two of Monday’s regular-season finale games had a direct impact on the tourney seeding, as Butler upset 25th-ranked DePaul, giving Seton Hall the opportunity to clinch the No. 3 seed with a win at St. John’s. The Pirates did just that, capturing their highest seed since 2016.

Xavier (5-9, 2-8 BIG EAST) clinched the No. 9 seed with a win over Georgetown on Sunday, its best seed since 2017, and the Musketeers will tip off the BIG EAST Tournament on March 5 at 11 a.m. ET against eighth-seeded St. John’s. The Red Storm fell to Seton Hall on Monday night to finish eighth in the standings with a 4-12 league mark, while showing a 7-14 record overall. Providence (6-13, 4-10) moved up to the No. 7 seed for the second time in three seasons with the St. John’s loss, and the Friars will face 10th-seeded Butler (3-16, 3-15) in the second First Round contest of the day, slated for a 2 p.m. tip. Sixth-seeded Creighton (7-10, 6-7) against 11th-seeded Georgetown (2-14, 2-14) concludes Day 1 of the BIG EAST Tournament, with tipoff set for 5 p.m. The Bluejays are the No. 6 seed for the third straight year. All three of Friday’s First Round games will stream live on the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi, available on FloSports.

Top-seeded UConn makes its return to the BIG EAST Tournament on FS1 at noon on Saturday, March 6, in the Quarterfinals. The Huskies (21-1, 18-0) are the No. 1 seed for the 19th time and will face the winner of Friday’s St. John’s-Xavier tilt. Fourth-seeded DePaul (14-7, 11-5) against fifth-seeded Villanova (14-5, 9-5) follows on FS2 at 3 p.m. to wrap up the afternoon session. The evening session of the Quarterfinals will air on FS2 as well, with tipoff at 6 p.m. between No. 2 seed Marquette (17-5, 14-4) against the winner of Friday’s Providence-Butler tilt. No. 3 seed Seton Hall (14-6, 12-5) against either Creighton or Georgetown wraps up Day 2 at 9 p.m.

FS1 will air the final three games of the BIG EAST Tournament, beginning with the Semifinals on March 7. Saturday’s afternoon quarterfinal winners will meet at 3 p.m. ET, before Saturday’s evening winners square off at 6 p.m. Semifinal winners will battle on Monday, March 8, at 8 p.m. to determine the conference champion and recipient of the BIG EAST’s automatic bid into the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Westwood One Radio will broadcast the title game, which is available on terrestrial stations across the country, SiriusXM and westwoodonesports.com. Specific channels will be solidified prior to March 8.

Announced earlier on Monday, a limited number of tickets will be provided to each of the participating teams. There will be no public sale of tickets to this year’s tournament.
