RV/- DePaul won at Xavier, 94-74, on Sunday afternoon, while Villanova knocked off Creighton, 74-64, allowing the Blue Demons (16-4, 8-1 BIG EAST) to jump over the Bluejays (14-5, 9-2) in the BIG EAST women’s basketball standings and move into second place. Announced Sunday night, DePaul will host No. 9/12 UConn on Wednesday, setting up a battle for first place as the Huskies sit atop the standings at 6-0. Tipoff at Wintrust Arena is slated for 8 p.m. ET with television coverage not yet determined.

Caroline Ducharme scored a career-high 28 points while Olivia Nelson-Ododa posted an unconventional double-double with 18 rebounds and 10 assists as the first-place Huskies remained unbeaten in BIG EAST play with a win in Queens on Sunday afternoon. UConn (11-4, 6-0 BIG EAST) trailed 15-11 with 2:31 left in the first quarter before going on a 25-7 run over the next eight minutes to take control of the game. Ducharme had nine points during the spurt. Nika Muhl's layup capped the run and made it 36-22. Kadaja Bailey led St. John’s (5-12, 1-6) with 21 points, while Leilani Correa added 19.

RV/- DePaul 94, Xavier 74
Aneesah Morrow post her 12th-consecutive double-double with 32 points and 15 rebounds, while Sonya Morris went off for 27 points, six boards and four assists as DePaul moved into second place in the standings with its win in Cincinnati. The Blue Demons led by four, 23-19, after the first quarter but erupted for a 30-point second quarter to pull away. Ayanna Townsend led four Musketeers (6-11, 1-7) in double figures, totaling 15 points off 7-of-12 shooting to go along with seven rebounds. Both teams shot well (DePaul, .446; Xavier, .431), both the Blue Demons took advantage of 22 Xavier turnovers which they turned into 28 points.

Villanova 74, Creighton 64
The two squads traded blows throughout the contest but it was all Wildcats (11-6, 5-3) in the fourth quarter, outscoring the visiting Bluejays 21-13 to pull away and win for the eighth time in their last nine games. Maddy Siegrist scored 13 of her game-high 31 points in the final quarter, with the junior grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds as well for her fifth double-double of the season. The 30-point performance was her third of the year, tied for the most in the BIG EAST. Creighton, which was playing its third road game in five days, was led by Emma Ronsiek’s 16 points, while Tatum Rembao added 11 points and a game-high seven assists.

Marquette 78, Butler 48
Head coach Megan Duffy earned career win No. 100 Sunday afternoon at Hinkle Fieldhouse as the Golden Eagles (13-5, 6-3) picked up a wire-to-wire win at Butler. Indiana native Karissa McLaughlin scored a game-high 20 points, leading the Golden Eagles’ three-point efforts with a 5-of-7 clip from beyond the arc. Liza Karlen added 19 points and seven boards for Marquette. Celena Taborn, the Division I leader in field goal percentage, went 6-of-8 from the field to lead Butler (1-15, 0-7) with 14 points, while also snagging a team-best five boards.

Providence 66, Georgetown 58 OT
Freshman Kylee Sheppard played more like a veteran Sunday afternoon in Washington, D.C., scoring a game-high 21 points to lead Providence (9-9, 4-5) to the overtime win. It marked the Friars' first win at McDonough Arena since 1996, snapping a streak of 16-straight losses on the Hoyas home court. The back-and-forth battle saw five ties and 11 lead changes, with GU’s Kaylin West burying a three-pointer with three seconds left in regulation to send the game into OT. Georgetown (6-8, 1-5) struck first in overtime and led for the first half of the frame, but Providence went on an 8-0 run with 2:15 to go to close out the contest. Sheppard scored all eight points of the final push. Kelsey Ransom led Georgetown with 21 points and nine boards.
