#BIGEASTwbb Minute: Freshmen Highlight UConn-DePaul Duel

First-Place Battle Lived Up To The Hype
Caroline Ducharme broke the game’s fifth tie, scoring what proved to be the game-winning layup with 1.5 seconds left Wednesday night at Wintrust Arena as No. 10 Connecticut remained undefeated (7-0) in BIG EAST play with an 80-78 victory over RV DePaul. Freshmen highlighted the night’s action as Ducharme scored a team-high 19 points, while fellow highly touted UConn newcomer Azzi Fudd saw her first game action since Nov. 22, finishing with 15 points off 6-of-10 shooting. DePaul freshman Aneesah Morrow posted her fourth 30-point performance of the season with a game-high 30 to go along with a game-best 14 rebounds. The lead changed hands nine times with runs causing wild swings on the scoreboard. The Huskies (12-4, 7-0 BIG EAST) led by 10 with 6:09 left in the second quarter before the Blue Demons went on a 21-2 run to close the half and lead by nine at the break. The Huskies led by seven with 8:12 left in the fourth before DePaul (16-5, 8-2) went on a 12-2 run to lead by three with 5:38 to go. The fourth quarter alone saw six lead changes. The loss drops the Blue Demons to 8-2 in league play, allowing Creighton (14-5, 9-2) to jump back into second place in the standings as DePaul moves to third.
