Old Dominion Earns the No. 1 seed and a share of the BIG EAST Regular Season Title

NEW YORK – With the results of Friday's crucial league regular-season finales, the bracket is set for the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship Presented by JEEP. Old Dominion, ranked 14th nationally, nailed down the No. 1 seed with a thrilling shootout win over 14th-ranked Liberty.  Temple earned the No. 4 seed thanks to a 3-2 win over No. 13 Connecticut, the program's first ever road win over the Huskies.

Despite the loss, Liberty wrapped up the second seed in the championship and a share of the BIG EAST regular season title, while UConn is seeded third.

The 2022 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship Presented by JEEP will be hosted by Old Dominion University at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex on Nov. 4 and 6.  The tournament champion receives the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship. Liberty is the defending champion, while UConn has won nine of the last 10 championship titles dating to 2012. The Monarchs last hosted the BIG EAST Championship in 2015.
 
Old Dominion finished the regular season with a 6-1 conference record, and the Monarchs are the top seed for the first time. Liberty also finished the season with a 6-1 conference record, winning 16 out of its last 17 BIG EAST regular season contests. UConn capped the conference season at 5-2, while Temple enters the tournament after a 4-3 BIG EAST regular season.

UConn visits No. 2 Maryland and Temple hosts Lock Haven on Sunday in their regular-season finales. Liberty and ODU have concluded their regular season schedules.

Top-seeded Old Dominion meets No. 4 Temple on Friday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. No. 2 seed Liberty battles No. 3 seed UConn at 4 p.m. Both games will stream live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports. The winners meet for the conference crown on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 4 p.m. The title game will air live on FS1.
