Week 2 Opens With A Bang
The second week of the women’s basketball season opens with a number of notable matchups, including a nationally televised top-10 showdown. No. 6/6 UConn (1-0) hosts No. 3/3 Texas on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. ET in a game airing on FS1. The Huskies will retire UConn legend Swin Cash’s No. 32 ahead of the game. Cash was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in September. Also on Monday, Seton Hall (2-0) hosts No. 24/25 Princeton at 7 p.m. in a game streaming on FloHoops. The Pirates are coming off an 18-point win at Rutgers on Friday. Providence (2-0) will look to improve to 3-0 when it travels to in-state rival Rhode Island at 6 p.m. That game will stream on ESPN+.
 
Weekend Roundup
BIG EAST women’s basketball teams combined for a 2-3 mark over the weekend as Marquette and Xavier each picked up wins on Sunday to improve to 3-0 on the young season. The Golden Eagles (3-0) cruised by crosstown rival Milwaukee 73-47 thanks to 19 points and 16 boards from Chloe Marotta, while Courtney Prenger notched a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double to lead the Musketeers (3-0) past Saint Francis (Pa.). Additionally, Butler (1-1) dropped a tight one to IUPUI, 67-61, on Sunday, while RV/RV DePaul (1-1) was edged at Northern Illinois, 86-79, on Saturday despite 25 points and 13 boards from Aneesah Morrow. Georgetown (1-1) also suffered its first setback of the season on Saturday, dropping a 78-61 decision at Temple despite 15 points and 15 boards from Jada Claude.
