Butler’s Hot Shooting Too Much for The Citadel

MBB Minute – Butler got off to a 17-0 start in its game against The Citadel and made 17 3-point baskets for the game in an 89-42 victory at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Saturday. Jayden Taylor and Simas Lukosius scored 18 points each. The 47-point margin of victory was Butler’s largest in five seasons. The Bulldogs (3-1) head to the Battle 4 Atlantis for a first-round game against Tennessee on Wednesday.
 
In the only other game Saturday involving a BIG EAST team, Providence lost to Miami, Fla. 74-64 in the Hall of Fame Classic at Mohegan Sun. The Friars (3-1) trailed 38-26 at halftime and could not put together a serious rally after the break. PC’s Bryce Hopkins registered team highs of 16 points and eight rebounds. Providence will play Saint Louis in the third-place game Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
 
Four other games are slated for Sunday. At noon, Georgetown plays La Salle in the third-place game of the Jamaica Classic. FS1 will televise Seton Hall hosting Wagner at 3 p.m. followed by Connecticut and Delaware State meeting at 5 p.m. at XL Center. DePaul takes on Oklahoma State in the third-place contest of the Bahamas Championship at 4:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
