BIG EAST women’s basketball teams went 6-1 in Thanksgiving Tournament play on Saturday, with Butler, DePaul, Georgetown, Providence, St. John’s and Seton Hall all scoring wins. The Bulldogs (4-2) closed out action at the Florida Atlantic Thanksgiving Tournament with a 78-51 win over Binghamton, the Hoyas (4-2) topped High Point 67-60 in the final game of the Puerto Rico Classic, the Red Storm (6-0) remained undefeated on the year with a 69-64 win over UTSA at the Las Vegas Invitational and the Pirates (4-3) knocked off previously unbeaten RV/RV Georgia 86-80 in the closing game of the Paradise Jam. Additionally, DePaul (4-2) won its second straight game at the Fort Myers Tip-Off with a 74-59 victory over Pitt, while Providence (5-2) defeated Weber State 62-55 to improve to 2-0 at the Friar Thanksgiving Classic. No. 23/RV Villanova (5-1) suffered its first setback of the season, falling to No. 21/20 Baylor 75-70 at the Gulf Coast Showcase.
 
Individual Performances Of Note
DePaul’s Aneesah Morrow recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 23 points and 16 rebounds in Saturday’s win over Pitt. Seton Hall’s Lauren Park-Lane was one assist shy of a double-double with 23 points and nine dimes in the win over RV/RV Georgia. Providence’s Janai Crooms matched the BIG EAST single-game high this season with 17 boards in the Friars’ win over Weber State to go along with eight points and five assists. Georgetown saw four finish in double figures in the win over High Point, including a team-high 18 points for Kelsey Ransom, while Sydney Jaynes filled the stat sheet in Butler’s victory over Binghamton with nine points, eight rebounds and five assists. St. John’s made a season-high 12 three-pointers, with Jayla Everett and Kadaja Bailey each knocking down three. No. 23/RV Villanova’s Christina Dalce recorded her fourth double-digit rebounding performance of the year with a game-high 12 against No. 21/20 Baylor.
 
Up Next
Six more games are on the calendar on Sunday, including four more Thanksgiving Tournament contests. No. 3/3 Connecticut (4-0) will face No. 9/8 Iowa for the Phil Knight Legacy title at 1 p.m. ET in the Moda Center. The game will air on ABC. A trio of games follow at 2 p.m., including Xavier (5-1) at SIUE, DePaul against Towson in Fort Myers, Fla., and Bryant at Providence. Saint Francis at RV/25 Marquette (5-1) is set for a 3 p.m. tip, before the final game of the Gulf Coast Showcase pits No. 23/RV Villanova against RV/RV USF at 5 p.m. Following Sunday’s tilts, all BIG EAST teams will be off until the following weekend.
