Creighton Edged in Las Vegas

Xavier Completes Non-League Schedule Tonight

MBB Minute – Creighton used a 16-0 run early in the second half to build a 10-point lead against Arizona State, but could not hold on in a 73-71 defeat in the Jack Jones Hoopfest in Las Vegas, Nev. The Bluejays (6-5) were the only BIG EAST squad in action on Monday.

Baylor Scheierman led Creighton with 18 points and eight rebounds. Center Fredrick King filled in admirably for Ryan Kalkbrenner, who missed his second straight game due to illness. King finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots. The Bluejays open BIG EAST play Friday at Marquette.

Xavier is the only league team playing on Tuesday. The Musketeers (7-3) finish non-conference play with a home game against Southern at 7 p.m. ET on FS1. Xavier ranks fourth nationally in 3-point shooting at 42.0 percent and is sixth in field goal shooting at 50.9 percent. The Musketeers will be aiming for their fourth win in a row. Xavier starts conference play Friday at Georgetown.

Two games are slated for Wednesday – DePaul at Duquesne and Drexel at Seton Hall.
