NEW YORK – Xavier guard Souley Boum has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Creighton center Fredrick King has been tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Boum led Xavier to a 2-0 week while King posted double-doubles in a pair of contests.
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Souley Boum, Xavier, G, Gr. – Playing in his first BIG EAST game, Boum had 28 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals in a 102-89 win at Georgetown. He shot 11-of-18 from the field and 6-of-9 from 3-point range. In a 79-59 victory over Southern, Boum had 17 points and seven assists. For the year, Boum ranks second in the league in scoring with a 17.9 average. 
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Fredrick King, Creighton, C, Fr. – King averaged 16.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocked shots and made 16-of-19 from the field in two games. He had career highs with 16 points, 11 boards and five blocked shots in a 73-71 loss to Arizona State. King had 16 points on 8-of-8 shooting, 10 rebounds and three blocks in a 69-58 defeat at Marquette. 
 
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Adama Sanogo, Connecticut, F, Jr. – Posted game-highs of 27 points and 14 rebounds in a victory at Butler (68-46). He made 13-of-21 from the floor.
 
Oso Ighodaro, Marquette, F, Jr. – Had 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting, six rebounds and two steals in a win against Creighton (69-58).  
 
Bryce Hopkins, Providence, F, So. – In his first BIG EAST game, registered 24 points and 10 rebounds in a victory at Seton Hall (71-67).
 
Joel Soriano, St. John’s, C, Sr. – Was named MVP of the Orange Bowl Classic after scoring a career-high 23 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in a win over Florida State (93-79).
 
Kadary Richmond, Seton Hall, G, Jr. – Had 28 points and nine rebounds in a loss to Providence (71-67) and averaged 18.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in a 1-1 week.
