An eight-game weekend in BIG EAST women’s basketball saw multiple 30-point showings, winning streaks extended and games played down to the wire. Lauren Park-Lane went off for 35 points to lead Seton Hall to its seventh straight win, while No. 25 Villanova’s Maddy Siegrist did everything she could against No. 14 Iowa State with game highs of 32 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. No. 9 UConn got back into the win column with a victory over Florida State, welcoming back Nika Muhl and Dorka Juhasz following injury absences. Additionally, RV St. John’s remained undefeated on the year (11-0), RV DePaul won its fifth straight and RV Marquette remained unbeaten at home following BIG EAST wins on Sunday.

Monday is quiet around the BIG EAST before Tuesday sees two tilts. Providence visits Sacred Heart at 11 a.m. ET before No. 16 Creighton travels to No. 2 Stanford at 10 p.m. The Bluejays are coming off an eight-point setback to unbeaten and 21st-ranked Arkansas on Saturday, while the Cardinal thwarted Tennessee’s upset bid on Sunday, winning 77-70. That game will stream on Pac-12 Live, while the Friars-Pioneers matchup will stream on NEC Front Row.
 
RV/RV DePaul 80, Georgetown 71  
Five Blue Demons scored in double figures, including game highs of 28 points and 11 rebounds for Aneesah Morrow as DePaul (9-3, 2-0) held off visiting Georgetown (7-4, 1-2) on Sunday afternoon for its fifth straight win. The Blue Demons led from the 7:38 mark of the first quarter on, but the game was separated by no greater than nine points throughout, as both teams shot over 40 percent from the field. Five Hoyas also scored in double figures with Kristina Moore posting a team-high 16 points.

RV/RV St. John's 63, Providence 55  
St. John's matched the best start in program history after a dominant fourth quarter sent them past Providence in a nationally televised tilt on Sunday. The Red Storm are 11-0 for just the second time, matching the program-record start from 2004-05. The two sides went back and forth throughout the contest before a 17-5 scoring stretch lifted the Red Storm to stay undefeated and moved to 3-0 in BIG EAST play for the first time since 2014-15. Jayla Everett went off for a season-high 21 points, serving as the catalyst for the Johnnies' offense, while Kylee Sheppard led the Friars (8-5, 0-3 BIG EAST) with 17 points.

9/9 UConn 85, RV/RV Florida State 77  
Aaliyah Edwards scored a career-high 26 points and Lou Lopez Senechal added 23 as the Huskies won at Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday afternoon. Chris Dailey served as head coach for the game, as UConn announced, following shootaround, Geno Auriemma would be out for the game. The Huskies welcomed back Dorka Juhasz, who last played on Nov. 14. She finished with 15 points a game-high nine rebounds. Point guard Nika Muhl also returned from an injury absence, tallying six points and 12 assists – her fifth double-digit assist game of the year.

14/12 Iowa State 74, 25/RV Villanova 62  
Maddy Siegrist had game highs of 32 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks, but the Wildcats fell to 14th-ranked Iowa State on Sunday at Mohegan Sun Arena. Lucy Olsen added 14 points for Villanova (9-3, 1-1). VU committed just seven turnovers but was limited to .339 shooting, while Iowa State shot .417 and outrebounded the Wildcats 52-27. The game was the fourth this season that the Wildcats were playing against a nationally ranked opponent and the Cyclones were the second top-15 foe on the Villanova schedule through the first seven weeks of the 2022-23 season.

RV/RV Marquette 67, Butler 46 
Marquette used an evenly spread offensive attack and a dominant performance in the post to help secure the win over visiting Butler on Sunday. Four different Golden Eagles finished in double-figures, led by Rose Nkumu's game-high 15 points, while MU outscored the Bulldogs 46-20 in the paint. After an even start to the contest, the Golden Eagles (9-2, 2-1) closed out the first quarter on a 10-2 run to gain some separation, then carried that momentum into the second quarter. After the first two quarters, MU held a 34-24 advantage. Jessica Carrothers led Butler (5-6, 0-3) with 14 points, while Sydney Jaynes joined her double figures with 11.

Seton Hall 78, Fordham 72  
Lauren Park-Lane erupted for a game-high 35 points and Seton Hall upended Fordham, 78-72, for its seventh straight win on Saturday. Park-Lane was brilliant when the Pirates needed her most, scoring 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting in the fourth quarter alone.  As a team, The Hall was 7-for-10 in the final 10 minutes and connected on 13 free-throws to pull away late. Park-Lane also had five assists, which leaves her one shy of Ka-Deidre Simmons' career record.

21/22 Arkansas 83, 16/16 Creighton 75 
Down 75-65 with three minutes remaining, the Bluejays used a 6-0 spurt to get within four at 75-71 (2:29). After forcing another Arkansas turnover the Bluejays missed a chance to make it a one possession game with a turnover underneath their own basket. Creighton (8-2, 2-1) got within four again at 77-73 (1:33) but could not draw any closer. The Bluejays were whistled for a season-high 20 fouls, with Emma Ronsiek picking up her third less than a minute into the second quarter, causing Creighton’s No. 3 scorer to miss the remainder of the half as the Bluejays saw their six-point lead turn into a four-point deficit. Ronsiek finished with 13 points while Morgan Maly had a team-high 24, including a 12-for-12 clip from the free-throw line.

Eastern Mich. 51, Xavier 44 
Xavier (7-4, 0-3) led 31-23 with 3:27 left in the third quarter before the Eagles finished the frame on a 6-1 run, making the score 32-29. Eastern Michigan outscored Xavier, 22-12, in the final quarter to pull away for the seven-point victory (51-44). The Eagles were 14-for-18 from the foul line in the final quarter. The game featured four lead changes and one tie. Neither team led by more than eight points in the contest. Mackayla Scarlett led Xavier in scoring with nine points, while Fernanda Ovalle added eight points. Courtney Prenger and Taylor Smith each chipped in six points.
