Marquette Knocks Off Seton Hall

UConn-Nova, Xavier-St. John’s Set for Tonight

MBB Minute – After some back-and-forth runs in the first half ended with Marquette leading 39-32 at the break, the Golden Eagles pulled away in the second half and defeated Seton Hall 83-69 in Tuesday’s only BIG EAST game.
 
Forward Oso Ighodoro, who has been an emerging leader for the Golden Eagles (10-4, 2-1 BIG EAST), produced game highs of 16 points and 10 rebounds. He also blocked three shots. Frontcourt partner Olivier-Maxence Prosper added 15 points and Kam Jones had 10.
 
Dre Davis scored 16 points for the Pirates (7-7, 0-3) on 6-of-7 shooting from the field. Tyrese Samuel and Femi Odukale each had 10 points.
 
A two-game Wednesday begins with Villanova playing second-ranked Connecticut at XL Center at 6:30 p.m. ET on FS1. After a 2-5 start, the Wildcats (7-5, 1-0) have won five straight. The unbeaten Huskies (13-0, 2-0) have won all 13 games by double digits. UConn owns a +25.0 scoring margin, which ranks third nationally. Villanova is 7-1 when holding opponents under 70.
 
At 9 p.m. on FS1, Xavier and St. John’s meet at Carnesecca Arena in a FOX Sports All-Access Game. The Musketeers (10-3, 2-0), ranked 22nd in the AP poll this week, are on a six-game winning streak. The Johnnies (11-2, 1-1) are led by Joel Soriano, who has posted a nation-leading 11 double-doubles.
 
Xavier coach Sean Miller and St. John’s coach Mike Anderson will wear live microphones from tipoff through the final whistle with virtually no interruption.
