Hill and Lehman Grab #BIGEASTsb Weekly Awards

BIG EAST Softball Player and Freshman of the Week
Taylor Hill, Seton Hall, Fr., INF (Little Falls, N.J.)
Seton Hall’s Taylor Hill had a monster weekend as the Pirates took two of three at Georgetown. The freshman had a pair of six-RBI games and drove in 13 runs in the series while going 8-for-11 at the plate. Hill went 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs scored and a grand slam in the 11-1 Pirate win in game one of the series. In Saturday’s finale, Hill once again knocked in six runs and scored three herself, while also launching a two-run homer in the fourth inning en route to a 13-10 win.
 
BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week
Sarah Lehman, DePaul, Gr, P (Iowa City, Iowa)
DePaul’s Sarah Lehman wins BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week. The graduate allowed just one earned run in nine innings of work this past week. Lehman went the distance in Friday’s 9-1 win over St. John’s, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out 10. Lehman has now allowed just one earned run over her last 24 innings of work.
 
BIG EAST Softball Weekly Honor Roll
Briana Marcelino, UConn, Gr., INF (Easton, Conn.) – Marcelino went 3-for-9 in the weekend series against Providence, which the Huskies took two out of three. The graduate scored four runs on the weekend, two of which coming in the 8-0 series finale win.
 
Tori Meyer, DePaul, Jr., OF/DP (Barrington, Ill.) – Meyer had a huge weekend in Queens as the Blue Demons earned the sweep over St. John’s. The junior went 9-for-10 in the series with a home run and four RBI.
 
Anese Thompson, St. John’s, Fr., C/1B (Ventura, Calif.) – Thompson went 3-for-8 at the plate this past week for the Red Storm. Hit her third home run of the season in Saturday’s series finale against DePaul.
 
Chloe Smith, Villanova, Jr., 3B (Sacramento, Calif.) – Smith batted .500 during Villanova’s weekend sweep of Creighton. Had multi-hit games in each of the last two games of the series, including going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI on Saturday.
 
Paige Rauch, Villanova, Gr., P/UT (Windsor, N.Y.) – Rauch fired a complete game two-hitter in the game one victory over Creighton on Thursday. The graduate allowed just two hits and one run in the outing while striking out eight.
