BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Duncan McGuire, Creighton, Jr., F (Omaha, Neb.)
Leading the offensive attack for Creighton, junior forward Duncan McGuire stuffed the stat sheet with five goals and an assist in a pair of outings, as the Bluejays outscored their opening weekend competition 12-1. In the season opener, McGuire set the facility record at Morrison Stadium with seven points on three goals and one assist in Creighton’s 6-0 win over Oakland. The combined seven points surpassed a quartet of Bluejays with six points (Ethan Finlay, Byron Dacy, Julian Nash and Brian Biggerstaff), while the hat trick was the first by a Bluejay since Riggs Lennon delivered one on Sept. 24, 2016. Three days later, McGuire added two more goals to his resume, as the Bluejays’ topped Rutgers, 6-1. Overall, through two games McGuire leads the NCAA in goals (5) and points (11), by two goals and four points, respectively.
 
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Mark O’Neill, Creighton, Jr., D (Omaha, Neb.)
Creighton junior defender Mark O’Neill anchored the Bluejays’ back line to stifle Oakland (an NCAA Tournament team in 2021), limiting the Grizzlies to just two shots. Against Rutgers on Sunday, O’Neill not only helped hold the Scarlet Knights to just one tally on 10 shots, he also blasted a highlight reel goal from 35 yards out, that sent the Bluejays to the locker room with a commanding 3-0 lead. Overall, he saw 148 minutes of action, as Creighton outshot its opponents 50-12 (24-4 on target) to open the season undefeated, 2-0-0.
 
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Gandhi Cruz, DePaul, So., GK (Aurora, Ill.)
DePaul sophomore Gandhi Cruz helped anchor the Blue Demons defense to a pair of shutouts and go 1-0-1 in the opening weekend as he started in both matches logging 90 minutes in each contest. Facing a top-25 team in the season-opener, Cruz was up for the challenge corralling all six save opportunities, while facing 17 total shots, as DePaul earned a 0-0 tie against No. 25 Bowling Green. Two-days later, Cruz made his seventh save of the season in a 2-0 triumph over Bucknell.
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Palmer Ault, Butler, Fr., F (Noblesville, Ind.)
In his first career appearance, Butler forward Palmer Ault led the Bulldogs in shots (4) and shots on goal (2), scoring the game-winning goal in the season-opening win over Western Michigan. After 78 minutes of scoreless action, Ault broke the game open when he took a rebound off a Western Michigan defender and slid it under the Broncos goalkeeper for the deciding goal in the 79^th minute. Moments later, Ault drew a foul in the box to set-up a penalty kick opportunity for his teammate, but Hunter Morse made the save. In the 86^th minute, Butler earned another penalty kick opportunity, this time capitalizing for the 2-0 triumph.
                                                                                   
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Gabriel Gjergji, Butler, Gr., GK
Led the Bulldogs to a shutout victory in the season opener, making four saves in the 2-0 win over Western Michigan.
Lukas Sunesson, Marquette, Sr., F
In a 1-1 opening week for Marquette, Lukas Sunesson totaled a team-high five points on two goals and an assist, in addition to registering a team-high five shots on target. The senior forward tallied a goal against No. 11 Tulsa, before registering a goal and an assist in a 6-1 win over Utah Tech.
Luca Dahn, Seton Hall, Grad Student, D
Luca Dahn played all 90 minutes in Thursday's 3-0 shutout of Rider. He helped limit the Broncs to just four total shots all game, including just one shot on target.
Cole Jensen, Xavier, R-Jr., GK
Cole Jensen helped Xavier to a 1-0-1 weekend, making his first career start and posting his first career shutout in a 1-0 win at Virginia on Thursday. On Sunday, he made three saves in the 1-1 tie vs Eastern Illinois. Overall, Jensen made 11 saves in the opening two contests and posted a 0.50 goals against average in 180 minutes of action.
Brandon Osterholt, Xavier, So., M
Making his first appearance for the Musketeers after transferring from UIndy in the offseason, Brandon Osterholt scored the first goal of his career off an assist by Kendall Allen in the 85^th minute, as Xavier earned a 1-0 road win over Virginia.
