Marquette, Creighton Stay Hot With Tuesday Wins

NEW YORK – Marquette and Creighton, two teams currently on good runs, kept the momentum going with Tuesday victories.
 
Marquette (12-4, 4-1 BIG EAST) rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to win 96-85 against St. John’s at Carnesecca Arena. Olivier-Maxence Prosper scored 25 of his game-high 29 points in the second half. He shot 9-13 from the floor and 4-of-5 from 3-point range. Kam Jones added 16 points and six rebounds. Marquette has won nine of its last 11 games with both losses coming in overtime.
 
Joel Soriano, St. John’s double-double machine, posted 22 points and 13 rebounds. He leads the nation with 13 double-doubles. Dylan Addae-Wusu helped the Johnnies (11-5, 1-4) with a career-high 21 points and five assists.
 
Creighton (9-6, 3-1) has a three-game winning streak after beating Seton Hall 83-61. After a slow start, the Bluejays found their shooting strokes and pulled away to a 43-22 halftime advantage. Ryan Kalkbrenner led four Creighton players in double figures with 17 points. Arthur Kaluma added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Femi Odukale led Seton Hall (8-8, 1-4) with 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor.
 
Three games are set for Wednesday. FS1 has a doubleheader starting at 6:30 p.m. ET with Villanova at Georgetown followed by Connecticut at Providence at 8:30 p.m. DePaul plays at Butler at 9 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
