In BIG EAST women’s basketball on Sunday, No. 24/23 St. John’s and No. 25/24 Creighton bounced back from midweek losses to score double-digit margin wins as the Red Storm defeated Xavier 71-52 and the Bluejays topped Marquette 68-42. RV/RV Villanova and Seton Hall continued their hot streaks with victories as well, with the Wildcats topping Butler 68-58 for their eighth win in their last nine outings, and the Pirates winning at Providence 76-60 for their 11
th win in their last 12 games.
25/24 Creighton 68, Marquette 42
The Bluejays stifling defense limited the Golden Eagles to 14 first-half points as Creighton built up an early lead and never looked back. Creighton (10-5, 4-3 BIG EAST) shot .536 on the game while holding Marquette (10-6, 3-4) to a .333 clip, as the Golden Eagles played their second straight game without starting forward Liza Karlen. Lauren Jensen led three Bluejays in double figures with 19 points while Emma Ronsiek and Morgan Maly each chipped in 10. MU’s Chloe Marotta scored a game-high 20 points while Jordan King added 13.

RV/RV Villanova 68, Butler 58
The Wildcats stretched their winning streak to five as Maddy Siegrist tallied 36 points and 13 rebounds in the home win. The nation’s leading scorer upped her average to 28.5 points per game following her seventh 30-point game of the season. Siegrist jumped to No. 5 on the BIG EAST’s all-time scoring list with 1,279 points over 55 conference games, passing UConn’s Maya Moore (1,270 over 64). Villanova (14-3, 5-1) led wire-to-wire, with Butler (6-10, 1-6) getting within five late in the third quarter. Kendall Wingler led the Bulldogs with 16 points off 5-of-7 shooting.

24/23 St. John's 71, Xavier 52
Jayla Everett scored 26 points, the most by a Red Storm player this season, leading St. John’s to the home win on Sunday. Everett was 8-of-11 from the field while adding four rebounds and three assists. St. John’s (14-1, 5-1) led by seven at the half before a 24-point third quarter allowed the Red Storm to pull away. Mackayla Scarlett led Xavier (7-9, 0-7) with 18 points.

Seton Hall 76, Providence 60
Sha'Lynn Hagans erupted for a career-high 22 points and Seton Hall defeated Providence, 76-60, on Sunday for its fourth straight win, and the 11th in its last 12 games. Hagans finished with 22 points on 7-for-13 shooting and was 3-for-5 from three-point range and a perfect 5-for-5 at the free-throw line. She also had six rebounds and four steals. The Friars (10-7, 1-5) trimmed a 16-point deficit down to five late in the third quarter, but The Hall (13-4, 6-1) responded with a 7-0 run to bump the advantage back to double digits. Kylee Sheppard led PC with a season-high 20 points while Olivia Olsen added an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double.

BIG EAST teams are off until Wednesday, which features a five-game slate beginning at 11 a.m. ET. Xavier will travel to Providence for the midday tilt in one of three games streaming on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloHoops. Butler at Georgetown (7 p.m.) and Villanova at DePaul (8 p.m.) will also be on BEDN. At 8 p.m. on SNY, UConn visits St. John’s in a game being played at UBS Arena on Long Island, before a notable BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinal rematch between Seton Hall and Creighton tips at 9 p.m. on FS1. Mya Bembry scored the game-winning bucket with two seconds left to send the sixth-seeded Pirates into the semifinals with a 66-65 win over the third-seeded Bluejays last March.
