BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Erin Jones, St. John’s, So., S/RS
Jones powered St. John’s to a 2-0 week that saw the Red Storm ascend to the top of the BIG EAST standings with 33 kills, 23 assists, 26 digs, and five total blocks over eight sets for 37.5 points. In a 3-0 victory over DePaul on Friday, the sophomore registered 11 kills, nine assists, nine digs, and a block. Against preseason favorite Marquette on Saturday, Jones exploded for a match-high 22 kills. Furthermore, she registered the first St. John’s triple-double in over a decade with 17 digs, 14 assists, and four blocks.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Magda Stambrowska, St. John’s, So., MB
Stambrowska was essential to a Red Storm defense that enjoyed a 2-0 week, highlighted by victories over DePaul (W, 3-0) and Marquette (W, 3-2). Across the weekend, Stambrowska racked up eight total blocks, averaging one per set, to go along with 14 kills at a .450 clip. Against DePaul, the sophomore registered six blocks and six kills. Versus Marquette, Stambrowska contributed a pair of blocks, including an essential block assist in the decisive fifth set, on top of eight kills.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Abby Harrell, Villanova, Fr., OH
Harrell led Villanova with 23 kills (3.29 per set) and eight service aces to total 32 points in a 1-1 week. In Wednesday's victory over Georgetown, Harrell totaled a team-high 12 kills with five aces. At Creighton on Sunday (L,0-3), the rookie proved to be a competitive threat, registering match-highs for both kills (T, 11) and service aces (3).
Honor Roll
Kiana Schmitt, Creighton, Sr., MB
Schmitt averaged 2.83 kills per set on .484 hitting to help Creighton to a pair of sweeps last weekend. In victories over Georgetown and Villanova, the senior averaged a team-best 1.17 blocks per set.
Kendra Wait, Creighton, Jr., S
Wait averaged 9.83 assists, 3.17 digs, 1.83 kills and 0.67 blocks on .474 hitting to help Creighton sweep Georgetown and Villanova. The junior contributed 29 assists, eight digs, eight kills and two blocks on .800 hitting in Friday’s win over the Hoyas, setting the Bluejays’ offense to .488 hitting (third best in program history).
Aubrey Hamilton, Marquette, Sr., OH
Hamilton hit .314, averaging 4.44 kills, 1.22 digs, and 0.44 blocks per set over Marquette’s 1-1 weekend. Her 40 kills this weekend led the league.
Lucrezia Lodi, St. John’s, So., OH
Lodi amassed 33 kills, 21 digs, four total blocks, two aces and an assist over a 2-0 weekend. Against DePaul, she posted a match-high 14 kills on a .360 clip. Against Marquette, she posted her third double-double of the season, totaling a season-high 19 kills, 16 digs, two blocks, an ace and an assist.
Carrigan O’Reilly, Xavier, Gr., S/RS
O’Reilly powered Xavier to an impressive two-sweep weekend with 67 assists (11.12/set), 10 kills, 10 digs, and three blocks.
