BIG EAST women’s basketball teams posted a 2-1 record on Wednesday night, including a rivalry win for Seton Hall (3-1) which cruised by Garden State counterpart Rutgers 82-63. RV/RV Marquette improved to 3-0 on the year with a 92-58 win at IUPUI, while Providence (2-1) was edged at crosstown rival Brown, 61-56.
Nightly Notables
Azana Baines was the night’s top scorer, leading Seton Hall with 25 points in the rivalry win at Walsh Gym. Baines was 8-of-17 from the field and added eight rebounds. The Pirates’ Amari Wright tallied the most assists in the BIG EAST this season with 11 dimes against the Scarlet Knights, while A’Jah Davis grabbed a game-best 10 rebounds. Marquette’s Mackenzie Hare was one shy of her career best with 22 points at IUPUI, draining 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. For Providence, Grace Efosa posed team highs of 13 points and eight rebounds against the Bears.

Three games are on the docket for Thursday including a nationally televised top-20 battle in Storrs. No. 8/8 UConn (1-1) hosts No. 20/19 Maryland at 6:30 p.m. ET on FS1. No. 22/23 Creighton (2-0) will look to stay unbeaten when it hosts Green Bay, while St. John’s (1-1) welcomes Penn State to Carnesecca Arena with both games tipping at 7 p.m. on FloHoops.
