No. 8/8 UConn bounced back in a big way Thursday night in Storrs, scoring an 80-48 win over No. 20/19 Maryland to highlight BIG EAST women’s basketball action. Paige Bueckers tallied 24 points and six steals in the win. No. 22/24 Creighton (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season, falling to Green Bay 65-53, while St. John’s (1-2) fell to Penn State 69-53.

Nightly Notables
Nine players scored for UConn, which had announced before tipoff that it would be without Azzi Fudd due to injury. Paige Bueckers was 10-of-15 from the field en route to a game-high 24 points, while Aubrey Griffin corralled a game-best 13 rebounds. BIG EAST Preseason Freshman of the Year KK Arnold had a career-high 12 points, while fellow newcomer Ashlynn Shade added a career-best 10 points. In Omaha, Lauren Jensen had a game-high 21 points, putting her nine away from the 1,000-career point mark. Ber'Nyah Mayo had a game-high 16 points to lead St. John’s, which also got a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double from Jillian Archer.

Just one game is on the calendar for Friday as Georgetown hosts Fairleigh Dickison at 7 p.m. ET on FloHoops. A three-game Saturday tips off at 2 p.m. in Cincinnati as Xavier hosts Bowling Green, followed by a 5 p.m. tilt between Austin Peay and Butler. DePaul tips off play at Battle 4 Atlantis at 7:30 p.m. when it faces South Dakota. All three games on Saturday will stream on FloHoops.
