BIG EAST women’s basketball teams went 1-1 on Tuesday evening as Villanova improved to 3-1 with a 63-53 win over Holy Cross, while Xavier (0-5) was edged by Kent State 64-57. The Wildcats made a season-high 10 three-pointers while committing just eight turnovers. The Musketeers shot over 40 percent from the field (.417) for the second straight game but was outscored 21-11 over the final 10 minutes.
 
Nightly Notables
Xavier’s Nila Blackford registered her 24^th career double-double with game highs of 19 points, 13 rebounds against Kent State. Blackford was 7-of-10 from the field and added three blocks and two assists. Three finished in double figures for Villanova in its win over Holy Cross, including 13 points and 13 rebounds for Bella Runyan. Rookie Maddie Webber scored in double figures for the second straight game, going 3-for-4 from three to finish with 13 points. Fresh off her 40-point performance on Sunday, Lucy Olsen added 14 points.
