BIG EAST women’s basketball teams combined for a 3-3 record on Friday, with RV/RV Creighton, RV/RV Marquette and Georgetown picking up wins. The Bluejays (5-1) wrapped up play at the Cancun Challenge with an 83-69 win over Michigan State, the Golden Eagles (5-0) began action at the Fort Myers Tip-Off with a 73-65 victory over Boston College and the Hoyas (4-1) won at Pepperdine, 59-40. Elsewhere around the league, No. 6/7 UConn (3-2) fell to No. 2/2 UCLA 78-67 in the opening game of the Cayman Islands Classic, St. John’s (2-4) stay at the Puerto Rico Classic continued with a 61-48 setback to UCF, and Butler (3-2) fell at Pacific 77-66 in the Tiger Turkey Tip-Off.

Two players eclipsed the 30-point mark on Friday, with Creighton’s Lauren Jensen leading all scorers on the night with a career-high 32 as the Bluejays went 2-0 in Cancun following its win over Michigan State. In the Cayman Islands, Paige Bueckers reached the 30-point mark for the first time this season with 31 against No. 2/2 UCLA. Mackenzie Hare helped keep Marquette undefeated on the year with career-high 25 points in the Golden Eagles’ win over Boston College in Fort Myers. Creighton’s Emma Ronsiek had the lone double-double on the night with 13 points and a career-best 14 boards. It was Georgetown’s defense once again that highlighted the night, holding Pepperdine to just 40 points and .372 shooting – both opponent lows for BIG EAST teams yesterday.
