MBB Minute – On Wednesday night, Seton Hall and Georgetown earned victories, while Villanova absorbed a defeat.
Seton Hall (5-2) got back in the win column with an 88-75 victory over Northeastern. Al-Amir Dawes and Kadary Richmond combined for 46 points to lead the Pirates’ offensive attack. Dawes drilled four 3-pointers and pulled down five rebounds and five assists, to go along with a career-high 25-point scoring night. Richmond added 21 points, in addition to collecting six assists and six rebounds. As a team, the Pirates shot 59.3 percent from the floor as they eclipsed 80 points for the third time this season.
Despite being shorthanded in the second half,
Georgetown (5-2) held on for the 69-67 win over Merrimack at Capital One Arena. Wayne Bristol Jr. led the way for the Hoyas with 14 points, shooting 3-of-5 from the field and converting 8-of-11 at the free throw line. Supreme Cook had a double-double, his second of the season, scoring 12 points to go along with 12 boards and two steals.

Villanova had defensive struggles in a 78-65 home loss to Saint Joseph’s. The Wildcats (6-2) could not contain the Hawk shooters who made 56.9 percent from the field and connected on 14-of-27 from beyond the arc. Villanova managed only 10-of-37 from 3-point range. Justin Moore scored a team-high 17 points.
Thursday night marks the start of the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle, with Butler and Creighton taking the floors first.
Butler starts a five-game homestand against Texas Tech at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Bulldogs are riding a two-game winning streak and sit at 5-2 on the year. The game will tip off at 6:30 p.m. ET on FS1. Last season, Butler defeated Kanas State, 76-64, at home in the Battle.

Creighton (5-1) will look to get back to its winning ways after dropping its first game of the season against Colorado State on Thanksgiving. The Bluejays hit the road against Oklahoma State at 9 p.m. on ESPN2.
