BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year Paige Bueckers took the court for the first time in nearly 600 days as No. 2/2 Connecticut cruised by visiting Dayton 102-58 on Wednesday night in Hartford. Bueckers finished with eight points, seven rebounds and four assists in her first appearance since the 2022 national championship game. Also on Wednesday, Xavier fell at Youngstown State 55-41 in head coach Billi Chambers’ debut with the Musketeers. UConn returns to the court on Sunday at RV/RV NC State at 3 p.m. ET on ABC, while Xavier hosts James Madison on Saturday at 7 p.m. on FloHoops.

Wednesday Standouts
Aaliyah Edwards had the top shooting performance in the BIG EAST so far this season as the UConn senior forward was an efficient 10-of-12 (.833) from the floor en route to a game-high 23 points in Wednesday’s win over Dayton. Six Huskies finished in double figures, with rookie Qadence Samuels adding 11 points in her collegiate debut. Nila Blackford led Xavier with 13 points at Youngstown State, going 5-of-10 from the field while adding nine boards and four steals.

DePaul (1-0) and Georgetown (1-0) will look to stay unbeaten as they return to the court on Thursday. The Hoyas will visit Temple at 7 p.m. ET, with the game streaming on ESPN+, while the Blue Demons host Stonehill at 8 p.m. in a game streaming on FloHoops.
