BIG EAST women’s basketball teams combined for a 2-1 record on Thursday night as Georgetown and Villanova stretched their winning streaks to four games. The Hoyas topped Howard 45-43 to improve to 6-1 on the year, marking their best start to a season since beginning 2010-11 with a 7-1 mark. The Wildcats defeated Richmond 67-57 behind Lucy Olsen’s 30-point performance to improve to 5-1 on the year. In Chicago, DePaul (4-4) suffered a 102-64 setback to Michigan State in a game that aired on CBS Sports Network.

Nightly Notables
BIG EAST leading scorer Lucy Olsen reached the 30-point mark for the second time this season, bumping her average to 24.8 over the first six games of the year for Villanova. The junior was 12-of-25 from the field with four assists, while classmate Chirstina Dalce added 12 points and 15 rebounds to knock off Richmond. Kelsey Ransom continued to do it all for Georgetown, tallying 12 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and four steals in the win over Howard. Anaya Peoples filled the stat sheet for DePaul against Michigan State, registering a team-high 18 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Just one game is on the docket for Friday as Xavier (0-6) travels to Tempe, Ariz., for the Briann January Classic hosted by Arizona State. The Musketeers will face Temple at 6 p.m. ET on Friday, before tipping off against the host Sun Devils on Saturday at 6 p.m. Also on Saturday, Seton Hall (4-3) hosts UMES at 1 p.m. and Providence (3-4) welcomes Iona to Alumni Hall at 2 p.m. Both games will stream on FloSports. At 7 p.m., St. John’s (3-5) travels to Marist in a game streaming on ESPN+.
