BIG EAST women’s basketball teams combined for a 5-1 record on Thursday, including No. 21 Creighton (9-2, 0-1 BIG EAST) scoring a quality win over South Dakota State and No. 18 Marquette (12-0, 1-0) remaining undefeated on the year with a large-margin win over Bucknell. The Bluejays were the final game of the day and notched a 58-46 victory over the Summit League favorite Jackrabbits, while the Golden Eagles dispatched the Bison 67-39. St. John’s (7-6, 1-0) won its third straight game, 75-56 at Yale, while Villanova (7-5, 0-1) also picked up a road win, 74-60 at La Salle. Butler (8-4, 0-1) improved to 6-1 at Hinkle Fieldhouse with a 69-49 win over Ohio, while Providence (6-7) fell in its final game at the West Palm Beach Classic, 53-51 to Kennesaw State.
 
Nightly Notables
St. John’s Unique Drake was the night’s top scorer, going for 30 points in the Red Storm’s win at Yale. It marked the second time this season Drake has reached the 30-point mark. Emma Ronsiek led Creighton in scoring for the fifth straight game, tallying 19 points and seven blocks against the Jackrabbits. Marquette’s Liza Karlen, the reigning national player of the week, tallied her third double-double of the season with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Villanova’s Christina Dalce registered her BIG EAST-best sixth double-double with 13 points and 11 boards at La Salle. Rachel Kent filled the stat sheet for Butler with 18 points, six assists and five rebounds, while Brynn Farrell sparked Providence with 23 points, including 5-of-6 shooting from deep.

The holiday break is upon us, with no games scheduled for the next week. Two more non-conference games mark the return of play on Dec. 28, with Georgetown (9-2, 0-1) visiting Kennesaw State and DePaul (8-5, 1-0) hosting Alcorn State, both at 7 p.m. ET. BIG EAST play takes center stage starting Dec. 30, when Xavier (1-9, 0-1) travels to Villanova, Seton Hall (9-3, 1-0) hosts Providence, and St. John’s visits Creighton, all on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports presented by Invesco QQQ.
