BIG EAST women’s basketball teams combined for a 2-2 record between Friday and Saturday, with St. John’s (4-5) winning at Marist 50-40 and Seton Hall (5-3) topping Maryland Eastern Shore 78-54 to highlight the action. On Friday, Xavier (0-7) suffered a 78-41 setback to Temple in Tempe, Ariz., before the Musketeers’ scheduled tilt against host Arizona State on Saturday was cancelled due to XU not having enough available players. Rounding out the results, Providence (3-5) fell at home to Iona 61-49 on Saturday afternoon.
 
Performances of Note
St. John’s Unique Drake has been the weekend’s top scorer so far, tallying a game-best 19 points in the Red Storm’s victory at Marist on Saturday. Seton Hall’s Savannah Catalon and Azana Baines had matching game highs of 17 points against UMES, while Amari Wright dished 10 assists – her second double-digit dime performance of the year. The Friars’ Olivia Olsen had team bests of 13 points and 12 rebounds against Iona, while Xavier’s Kaysia Woods had a game-high 16 points against Temple, draining four three-pointers.
