Seton Hall and Georgetown Earn #BIGEASTbase Weekly Accolades

BIG EAST Player of the Week
Devin Hack, Seton Hall, R-Jr. (Somerville, N.J.)
In a 4-1 week for the Hall, including a conference series win over Xavier, Hack hit .400 and scored a team-best seven runs. Overall, he had three multi hit games, including two against the Musketeers and was 2-for-2 in stolen bases. The redshirt junior set career-highs with four hits and three runs scored in the series opening win against Xavier, before going 2-for-4 with a run in the series clinching win on Saturday. Scored the go-ahead run against Rider where he led off the fifth inning with a single and stole second before advancing to third on a throwing error by the catcher. Defensively, he started all five games in center field where he didn’t commit an error and made 11 put outs.
 
BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Jake Bloss, Georgetown, Sr., RHP (Greensboro, N.C.)
Bloss was lights out against St. John's in game two of Saturday's doubleheader. Bloss took a no-hitter bid into the seventh inning, before allowing just one hit, no runs, one walk, in addition to stirking out 12 batters en route to his sixth win of the season. Bloss touched 98 mph in Saturday's contest and set a new season-high in strikeouts. The senior held SJU to a .048 batting average in his seven innings of work.
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Stephen Quigley, UConn, Gr., RHP
In 7.2 innings of work, Quigley struck out 10 batters and allowed just four hits without a run allowed in a 9-1 team victory over Villanova.
Jack Grace, Creighton, Sr., INF/OF
Grace led Creighton to a 4-1 week, with a team-high average of .435. He closed the week with seven RBI and three multi-hit games. Jack also guided Creighton with 10 hits, a .458 on-base percentage and a .609 slugging percentage.
Justin Kleinsorge, Creighton, Gr., RHP
The Bluejays’ Sunday starter went seven strong innings on Sunday, including five scoreless to begin the game. Kleinsorge closed the game with two runs allowed in 7.1 frames, allowing six hits without a walk and notching five strikeouts.
Mario Pesca, St. John’s, Fr., RHP
Pesca had his best start of the season against Rutgers with six innings of scoreless baseball. The freshman held the Scarlet Knights to just two hits in his outing, managing to keep the 35th-ranked team in the nation off the base paths.
Nick Payero, Seton Hall, Gr., RHP
Allowed only two hits and struck out a season-high eight batters in a seven-inning start in the series opening win against Xavier. Payero retired six consecutive batters to end his outing, including three by strikeout.
