Creighton’s Morgan Maly, Villanova’s Christina Dalce and Lucy Olsen to compete at the 2023 FIBA 3x3 U21 Nations League June 23-29 in Handan, China.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Basketball announced today the men’s and women’s 2023 USA 3x3 U21 Nations Leagues teams set to compete at the 2023 FIBA 3x3 U21 Nations League June 23-29 in Handan, China. The teams were selected by the respective men’s and women’s USA Basketball 3x3 National Team committees. The six-member women’s team features three BIG EAST student-athletes: Morgan Maly of Creighton, Christina Dalce of Villanova and Lucy Olsen of Villanova.

The other three members of the team include Mara Braun (Minnesota), Jillian Hollingshead (Tennessee) and Shyanne Sellers (Maryland).

The 2023 USA U21 Nations League teams will compete in the FIBA 3x3 U21 Nations League Asia-Pacific Conference from June 23-29 in Handan, China. The competition will feature six three-game tournaments in seven days in which the six team members can substitute as needed for each day’s four-person entry. The winning team in each of 13 conference events hosted worldwide will qualify for the FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League Final Sept. 13-15 in Mongolia.

The 2023 3x3 U21 Nations League will stream live on YouTube at www.youtube.com/fiba3x3

Maly was an All-BIG EAST First Team selection in 2022-23 and finished second on the Bluejays with a 14.6 scoring average. Her 2.2 three-pointers per game ranked third among all BIG EAST players a season ago. Olsen earned second team All-BIG EAST honors last season by averaging 12.4 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per contest to go with a team-leading 163 assists. Dalce had a breakout sophomore campaign for the Wildcats ranking third on the team in scoring at 7.3 points per game and second in rebounding with a 7.9 rebounds per game average. She also set a Villanova single season record for blocked shots with 86.

Different than 5-on-5, 3x3 is played on a half-court with a 10-minute game clock and 12-second shot clock. Play is continuous, as teams “clear” the ball behind the 2-point line following a made basket, defensive rebound or steal. The first team to score 21 points via 1-point field goals or 2-pointers behind the arc is victorious; or if time expires then the team leading wins.
