BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Kendra Wait, Creighton, Jr., S
Wait collects her second BIG EAST honor in as many weeks after averaging 9.91 assists per set during No. 15 Creighton’s 2-1 week. Wait was the base of a Bluejay offense that became the first of the year to take a set from No. 4 Nebraska. The junior produced 32 assists in addition to 11 digs as Creighton became the first team to hit at least 1.000 against the Cornhuskerss. Wait followed this performance with 30 assists and two blocks in Friday’s sweep of Nebraska neighbor, Omaha. She closed the week with 47 assists, 12 digs, six kills and five blocks on .267 hitting as Creighton handed Iowa State its first loss of the fall (W, 3-1), winning the MH Hospitality Omaha Challenge in the process. Overall, Wait totaled 109 assists, 35 digs (3.18/set), eight blocks (0.73/set), and 13 kills (1.18/set).
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Elizabeth Feczko, Villanova, Jr., L
Feczko led the Wildcats with 39 digs (3.55/set) as Villanova enjoyed an undefeated week highlighted by a trio of road victories. Against Penn (W, 3-2), Feczko registered a game-high 20 digs plus five assists. She followed this with another match-best performance in Saturday’s sweep of Rider, producing 11 digs. The libero’s eight digs versus Delaware (W, 3-0) were a Wildcat-best.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Meghan Scholz, DePaul, Fr., MB
Scholz was essential to the Blue Demon’s defense, putting up 16 blocks, as the host team enjoyed a perfect three-sweep weekend at the DePaul Invitational. The rookie led all BIG EAST athletes this weekend with three solo and 13 block assists, averaging 1.78 blocks per set. She now leads the league in overall blocks per set with 1.25. Her strongest performance came in the Invitational’s opening match when the Wisconsin native put up six blocks against Northern Illinois. Additionally, Scholz contributed 11 kills over the weekend.
Honor Roll
Cora Taylor, Butler, So., S
The MSU Comfort Inn-vitational All-Tournament honoree led the BIG EAST this week with 125 assists (11.36/set). Over Butler’s 2-1 weekend, Taylor also contributed 34 digs (3.09/set), six blocks, and six kills.
Audrey Klemp, DePaul, Gr., PH
The DePaul Invite MVP totaled 36 kills (4.00/set), hitting .388, as the Blue Demons secured a trio of sweeps
. Her 12 kills against Northern Illinois and St. Thomas were both match-bests.
Savannah Ivie, Providence, Fr., D.S.
The Friar Classic All-Tournament honoree led Providence to a 3-0 weekend, totaling 51 digs in victories over Saint Peter’s (W, 3-0), Central Connecticut (W, 3-0), and Bryant (W, 3-2). The rookie’s 4.64 digs per set were the second-best in the BIG EAST this week.
Erin Jones, St. John’s, S/R.S.
The Jack Kaiser Classic MVP led the Red Storm to a trio of victories with 47 kills (4.70/set), 18 digs (1.80/set), and five blocks. Jones’ 4.70 kills per set led the BIG EAST this week.
Delaney Hogan, Xavier, Sr., MB
Hogan entered the BIG EAST record book this weekend, tying the individual overall single match hitting record after hitting 0.867 against Bellarmine on Saturday. She joins Gwen Rucker (Louisville, 2012) and Kathleen Johnson (Villanova, 2019). Hogan hit a BIG EAST-best 0.603 on the weekend with 37 kills (2.85/set), 7 digs (0.54/set), and 6 blocks as Xavier went 2-1.
