Villanova 4, Georgetown 1 – Box Score
Villanova opened BIG EAST play by defeating Georgetown, 4-1, led offensively by Sabine de Ruijter’s five-point performance with two goals and an assist. Things started off slow for both teams as the game’s first shot on goal came 11 minutes in. De Ruijter got the scoring started with 43 seconds remaining in the quarter by rifling a shot in off a penalty corner.

Temple 1, Connecticut 0 – Box Score
Temple opened its conference slate with a 1-0 win over UConn Friday afternoon, topping the Huskies for the third-straight year. Scoreless through 52 minutes, Tess Muller found the go-ahead goal on a second chance play on a corner attempt, sending it in on a pass from Julia Bunch to put the game away in the fourth quarter. Defensively, Molly Frey stepped up in the cage with four saves, as the Huskies outshot the Owls 9-5 in the outing.

Quinnipiac 2, Providence 1 – Box Score
Quinnipiac picked up its third consecutive victory, topping Providence in the conference-opener, 2-1, Friday afternoon at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I. Lucia Pompeo and Stella Tegtmeier led the Bobcats’ offensive attack on Friday, with Pompeo scoring in the 10th minute and Tegtmeier doubling the lead in the 21st minute.

No. 10 Liberty 2, Old Dominion 0 – Box Score
In a rematch of the 2022 BIG EAST title game, No. 10 Liberty earned a 2-0 shutout victory over Old Dominion at home, as the Lady Flames improved to 6-1 on the season. Tuti Dell Anna scored her first goal in a Liberty uniform in the fifth minute, while senior Reagan Underwood put the exclamation mark on the victory with an insurance goal in the final minute of the contest. In goal, Azul Iritxity Irigoyen made all five saves she faced to secure the shutout.
