MBB Minute – In the lone BIG EAST game on Friday,
Xavier rallied from a 12-point deficit in the second half to edge
Georgetown 92-91 at a sold-out Cintas Center. Saturday’s schedule includes four contests with all three league ranked teams in action.
The Musketeers (10-8, 4-3 BIG EAST) won their third straight game by leaning on the trio Quincy Olivari, Desmond Claude and Dayvion McKnight. Olivari had 27 points and six rebounds. Claude added 19 points and nine assists and McKnight contributed 18 points and five assists. Jayden Epps poured in 30 points and dished 11 assists for the Hoyas (8-10, 1-6). Georgetown led for 36:20 in the game.
Saturday’s schedule shows two games at noon ET.
Marquette battles
St. John’s at Madison Square Garden on FOX. The Golden Eagles (12-5, 3-3) are coming off an 87-74 home win versus Villanova on Monday. MU has taken good care of the ball. It ranks fourth nationally in turnover margin (6.3). Tyler Kolek is eighth in assists (6.3). The Red Storm dropped an 80-65 decision at Seton Hall. Coach Rick Pitino missed the game due to illness. St. John’s is 8-1 in home games.

Creighton on FS1. The Pirates (13-5, 6-1) are riding a five-game winning streak and are 8-1 at Prudential Center this season. The Hall beat St. John’s 80-65 on Tuesday. The 6-1 league start is tied for second-best in program history. The Bluejays (13-5, 4-3) are coming off a 62-48 loss at UConn. They have taken six of the last eight games in the series with Seton Hall.
Butler hosts
DePaul at 4 p.m. on FS1. The Bulldogs (11-7, 2-5) have won seven straight in the series between the two teams. In an 85-71 loss at Xavier on Tuesday, Butler’s Pierre Brooks II scored 22 points and Posh Alexander matched his season high with 21 points. DePaul lost 100-71 to Providence. The Blue Demons (3-14, 0-6) are led by Da’Sean Nelson’s 14.7 scoring mark.

Villanova at Wells Fargo Center on FS1 at 8 p.m. The Huskies (16-2, 6-1) have won six in a row and have averaged 74.9 points during the win streak. The Wildcats are 10-1 when they hold opponents to less than 70 points.
