Butler, Georgetown and Xavier Earn BIG EAST Women’s Soccer Weekly Awards (10.21.24)

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Maja Lardner, Georgetown, Sr., F

Lardner recorded seven points on three goals and one assist across two games for the Hoyas. Lardner scored the game-winning goal at Providence followed by a two-goal and one assist performance in the 4-0 win versus Marquette. W

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Ellen Carter, Georgetown, Jr., D

Carter helped anchor a GU back line en route to two shutout wins against Providence and Marquette. Carter tallied an assist on Sunday against Marquette notching her second assist of the season.

BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Anna Pierce, Butler, R-Jr., GK

Pierce made 17 saves in two road matches, allowing only one goal in total. After making nine saves in the 2-1 win at UConn, her eight saves in the 1-0 win at Seton Hall preserved her 6th shutout of the season.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Samantha Erbach, Xavier, Fr., F

Erbach finished the week with four points against St. John’s (3-0) and Providence (1-2). The freshman netted the second goal of the game at St. John’s. Erbach scored her ninth goal of the season in the first half off an assist from Samantha Wiehe versus Providence.

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Amelia Darey, Butler, Jr., D

Darey helped anchor a defensive that only allowed one goal in the team’s 2-0 week against UConn and Seton Hall. The junior scored the game-winning goal, heading in a corner kick, in the 84th minute of Butler's 1-0 win on the road at Seton Hall.

Talia Sommer, Butler, M, Jr.
Sommer scored both goals in Butler's 2-1 road win at UConn as she led the team's offense, with 5 total shots and 2 shots on goal, in the 1-0 win at Seton Hall.

Ariana Mondiri, Creighton, Sr., F
Mondiri guided the Bluejays to a 3-1 victory over DePaul on Sunday after recording the second brace of her Bluejay career. Mondiri became the second Bluejay this season and just the fifth Bluejay since joining the league in 2013 to score two goals in a BIG EAST match.

Marryn Gruhn, Providence, So., M
Gruhn scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute at No. 20 Xavier.

Hannah Dickinson, Villanova, Jr., GK
Dickinson played in all 180 minutes of shutout action in the team's 1-0-1 week, grabbing seven saves in that span. She anchored the Villanova defense in the 3-0 win over Marquette, holding the Golden Eagles without a goal in their seven shot attempts and saving the two that landed on frame. She then made five saves in the 0-0 draw with UConn to pick up her sixth solo shutout of the season.
