BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Aubrey Hamilton, Gr., OH, Marquette
Hamilton led the league in kills (5.12/set) while pacing Marquette to a 2-0 week with victories over DePaul (3-2) and Xavier (3-0). Additionally, the outside hitter contributed 3.63 digs per set with five assists, three blocks, and a service ace. In Friday’s five-set win over the Blue Demons, Hamilton landed a career-best 28 kills, surpassing the 1,000 kill mark in a Golden Eagles uniform, with 13 digs, three blocks, and two assists. In Sunday’s sweep of Xavier, the two-time All-BIG EAST selection posted match-best marks of 13 kills while tying her personal best with 16 digs.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Taylor Pannell, Gr., MB, UConn
Pannell anchored UConn’s defense to a two-win week, averaging 1.22 blocks per set in victories over Villanova (3-1) and St. John’s (3-2). The graduate student was essential to the Huskies’ five-set win over the Red Storm, logging a match-best nine blocks. Additionally, Pannell contributed 28 kills on .400 hitting over the course of the weekend, good for sixth in the league.
BIG EAST Setter of the Week
Cora Taylor, Jr., S, Butler
Taylor led the BIG EAST with 11.57 assists per frame this week, setting Butler to a two-win weekend. In Friday’s 3-1 victory over Seton Hall, the junior dished out a match-best 48 assists with three service aces and three blocks. During Saturday’s sweep of Georgetown, Taylor once again led the match with 33 assists while contributing five digs and a pair of service aces.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Alaleh Tolliver, Fr., OH/DS, Butler
Tolliver had a breakout weekend, totaling 26 digs, 25 kills, and seven service aces as the Bulldogs enjoyed an undefeated weekend. The freshman’s 1.00 aces per set led the league while her 3.57 kills per set were good for eighth in the BIG EAST this week. Against Seton Hall (W, 3-1), Tolliver registered a team-best 18 digs alongside 12 kills for her third career double-double. She then recorded a match-best 13 kills in Saturday’s sweep of Georgetown.
Honor Roll
Doga Kutlu, Sr., S, UConn
Kutlu averaged 10.67 assists and 4.56 digs per set over the Huskies undefeated weekend. In Friday’s 3-1 victory over Villanova, the senior logged 32 digs – the most by any competitor in a conference match this season.
Ava Martin, Jr., OH, Creighton
Martin registered 4.17 kills per set on .440 hitting as Creighton swept Xavier and DePaul to continue possessing the BIG EAST’s top spot. The junior also contributed 1.33 digs, 0.67 aces and 0.50 blocks per set.
Yadhira Anchante, Gr., S, Marquette
Anchante picked up a pair of double-doubles over the Golden Eagles’ two-win weekend, averaging 11.00 assists and a team-best 3.88 digs per set. In Friday’s 3-2 victory over DePaul, the setter led the match with 53 assists and 17 digs. Against the Musketeers (W, 3-0), Anchante recorded 35 assists, 14 digs, and two blocks.
Erin Jones, Jr., RS/S, St. John’s
Jones led the Red Storm to a 1-1 week, logging triple-doubles in each match. In Friday’s sweep of Providence, the junior produced 14 assists, 11 digs, and 10 kills with three aces. In Saturday’s setback at UConn (L, 2-3), Jones registered a match-leading 18 kills with 14 assists, 13 digs, fives aces, and five blocks.
Asli Subasili, Jr., MB, Seton Hall
Subasili led the BIG EAST with 1.86 blocks per set as Seton Hall split a pair of matches. In Friday’s sweep of Georgetown, the junior recorded a season-best seven blocks to go with four kills. At Butler (L, 1-3), Subasili logged six blocks and a pair of service aces.
