BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Alizé Maes, Temple, Sr., B (Vremde, Antwerp, Belgium)
Maes scored three goals, including both game winners, in Temple’s 2-0 week. In a 5-1 win against then-No. 18 Liberty, her tally four minutes into the third quarter snapped a 1-1 tie and propelled Temple to a four-goal second half for its first victory against the Flames since 2011. In a 2-1 double overtime win over Wagner, Maes tied the game in the second quarter on a penalty corner and then delivered the game winner with less than four minutes remaining in double overtime.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Bella Ospitale, Temple, Jr., GK (South Setauket, N.Y.)
Ospitale continued her run in defending the cage during a 2-0 week for the Owls, posting a 0.88 goals against average and a .867 save percentage with 12 total stops during the week. In the win at Liberty she made a career-high eight saves, including one on a penalty stroke. Against Wagner she stopped four shots including a pair of point-blank efforts off a penalty corner to end the first half, keeping the game tied and allowing the Owls to force overtime. The Owls are on a five-game win streak.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Isabel Soeters, UConn, Fr., M (Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands)
Soeters scored a hat trick in UConn’s shutout win over Villanova, helping them improve to 3-0 in conference play. The midfielder scored her first career goal at the 14:11 minute mark in the first quarter, before tacking on two more before halftime. She also played 45 minutes in the Huskies’ win over then-No. 13 UAlbany. Defensively, Soeters and the Huskies limited their opponents to just two shots on goal in the pair of wins.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Elena Perez Alejandro, Georgetown, So., M (Madrid, Spain)
Perez Alejandro scored two goals and added an assist in a 1-1 weekend for the Hoyas. She had an assist and scored the game-winning goal against Quinnipiac in overtime, giving the Hoyas their first BIG EAST win since October 2021. She also scored the only Hoya goal against Sacred Heart.
Tuti Dell Anna, Liberty, Sr., F (Córdoba, Argentina)
Dell Anna led Liberty in goals (3) and points (6) this past weekend in home games against Temple and Appalachian State. In the then-No. 18 Lady Flames’ 5-0 shutout win over App State, Dell Anna led the way with two goals. Against Temple Dell Anna scored the only goal of the game for the Lady Flames.
Sabine de Ruijter, Villanova, Gr., F (Huizen, The Netherlands)
de Ruijter scored a career-best four goals in Villanova’s win over Penn. She now has a BIG EAST-leading 12 goals and 26 points on the season.
Sian Emslie, Old Dominion, Sr., M (Canterbury Kent, England)
Emslie had three goals in Old Dominion’s 8-1 conference win over Providence, helping the Monarchs bounce back after a 0-2 performance last weekend.
Julia Bressler, UConn, Jr., F (Leesport, Pa.)
In UConn’s 2-0 weekend, Bressler had two goals, one against Villanova and the other against UAlbany.
