NEW YORK – With a 3-1 win over Old Dominion, No. 10 UConn was named the regular season champions and will be the No. 1 seed in the 2024 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship presented by JEEP.
This is UConn’s first regular season title since 2020. With the win over ODU, they improved to 15-3 on the season and 6-1 in conference play. Temple earned the No. 2 spot in the tournament as they finished the regular season 5-2 in conference action along with a head-to-head win over the Monarchs. ODU capped league action at 5-2 and the No. 3 seed.
Liberty takes the last spot in the Championship as the No. 4 seed. Currently ranked No. 18 nationally, the Lady Flames secured their spot in the Championship with a 6-0 win over Georgetown in their final regular season conference game.
UConn takes on Liberty in the semifinal opener at 1 p.m. ET on Friday, November 8 at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I. In the second semifinal game, Temple will take on Old Dominion at 4 p.m. ET. Both games will stream live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports presented by Invesco QQQ.
The winners of Friday’s semifinal matches will advance to the championship game on Sunday, November 10 at 1 p.m. ET. The BIG EAST Championship final will also stream on BEDN. The winner of the Championship will earn the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
