UConn Wins 2024 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship

PROVIDENCE – The No. 1 seed UConn Huskies added another field hockey title to their record book.

The Huskies (17-3, 6-1 BIG EAST) secured a 1-0 win over No. 2 seed Temple (12-8, 5-2 BIG EAST) at Lennon Family Field in the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship, presented by JEEP.

No. 10-ranked UConn earns the BIG EAST’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. They will learn their tournament destination during the NCAA Championship selection show at 10 p.m. tonight on NCAA.com.

After a scoreless first half, UConn’s Julia Bressler found the back of the net on a penalty stroke three minutes into the third quarter.

Despite a number of penalty corner opportunities in both the third and fourth quarters, Temple was not able to find the equalizer.

UConn goalkeeper Natalie McKenna was named the BIG EAST Championship Most Outstanding Player with six saves in two games and a shutout in the title game.
