UConn’s Bueckers and Strong Sweep #BIGEASTwbb Weekly Honors (11.18.24)

NEW YORK – UConn swept this week’s BIG EAST Women’s Basketball honors. Paige Bueckers was named BIG EAST Player of the Week after a 29-point performance versus then-No. 14 North Carolina. Sarah Strong earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week recognition for the second consecutive week.

Paige Bueckers, UConn, R-Sr., G

Bueckers led the team to a 69-58 victory against then-No. 14 North Carolina with 29 points, 16 of which came in the first quarter. Bueckers went 4-for-8 from 3-point range and added four assists and two steals. In the 86-49 victory versus South Florida, she paced the team with 22 points on 9-for-10 shooting from the field.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Sarah Strong, UConn, Fr., F

Strong had 14 points, a game-high 13 rebounds, six assists and five blocks in UConn’s win at UNC. Strong’s rebounds, assists and blocks are personal bests while her double-double is the first of her career. Earlier in the week, she finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the victory versus South Florida.

Lauren Jensen, Creighton, Sr., G

Jensen scored a career-high 32 points to go with 10 rebounds in Creighton’s 80-72 win over Drake.

Jorie Allen, DePaul, Gr., F
Allen scored a career-high 23 points against then-No. 4 Texas on 47% shooting from the field.

Olivia Olsen, Providence, Sr., F
Olsen recorded her second double-double of the season on 10 points and a career-best 18 rebounds against Boston College. Her 18 boards are the highest rebounding total by a BIG EAST player this season.

Lashae Dwyer, St. John’s, Sr., G
Dwyer scored 22 points, the most by a Red Storm player this season in their 69-61 win at Loyola Maryland. She went 12-for-14 from the charity stripe against the Greyhounds, which was the highest made free throw total by a St. John's player since Qadashah Hoppie broke the school record on Nov. 24, 2018.

Faith Masonius, Seton Hall, Gr., F
Masonius averaged 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game, all Seton Hall highs in the Pirates’ 2-0 week.
