NEW YORK (November 2, 2024) – On the final day of the BIG EAST conference season, all 12 teams took to the pitch at 2 p.m. ET with a spot in the eight-team tournament field on the line.
 
Following the conclusion of the six games the bracket for the 2024 BIG EAST Championship Presented by JEEP was made official.
 
Entering the afternoon as the pre-determined Midwest Division Champions with a perfect 7-0-0 mark in league play, Akron (10-3-4, 7-0-1 BE) earned a 0-0 draw with UConn (8-3-6, 3-2-3 BE) and solidified the No. 1 seed.
 
In a three-way battle for the East Division, Georgetown and St. John’s squared off, while Providence took on Xavier. Behind a late goal by Cole Dewhurst, the Friars (10-4-3, 5-1-2) earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Musketeers to reach 17 points. After both teams were held without a shot and a corner kick in the opening half, St. John’s (7-5-5, 5-1-2 BE) pulled away in the second to defeat Georgetown (8-4-5, 5-2-1 BE), 2-0. With the win, the Friars and Red Storm share the East Division crown, with Providence earning the tiebreaker for the No. 2 seed. The Johnnies enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed, and Georgetown secured the final host position.
 
The Zips, Red Storm, Hoyas and Friars will be joined in the field by No. 5 seed Creighton, No. 6 seed Seton Hall, No. 7 seed UConn and No. 8 seed DePaul in the opening round.
 
Georgetown will host Creighton in the first round at Noon ET, before St. John’s welcomes Seton Hall to Queens, N.Y. at 5 p.m. At 7 p.m., Akron will host DePaul, while UConn travels to Providence. All First Round action will stream live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) on FloSports Presented by Invesco QQQ.
 
Needing a win and help to get into the tournament, DePaul (6-7-3, 2-4-2 BE) took care of business against Butler (4-10-3, 1-7-0 BE), 5-3. In addition, Creighton (9-5-3, 4-3-1 BE) topped Marquette (6-7-4, 2-4-2 BE), 5-2, to secure the No. 8 seed for the Blue Demons and the No. 5 seed for Creighton. Meanwhile, Seton Hall (11-5-1, 4-3-1 BE) outlasted Villanova (1-10-6, 0-7-1 BE) 1-0.
 
Following the First Round action next Saturday, Nov. 9, the four winning teams will travel to the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. The Semifinals will kickoff at 5 p.m. on Nov. 14, with matchups to be determined.

The Championship game is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17 on FS2.
