BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week
Brooke Johnson, 5th., 1B, DePaul
Johnson was red hot at the plate at the Blues City Classic for DePaul, hitting .588 (10-17) across five games for the Blue Demons. The fifth-year first basemen was a major run producer, totaling six RBI and eight runs scored while launching three home runs through the tournament. She is now up to a six-game hitting streak while leading the team with a .933 slugging percentage for the season.
BIG EAST Softball Pitcher/Freshman of the Week
Alyssa Twomey, Fr., P, Providence
Twomey was lights out in the circle for Providence across three appearances, allowing just two earned runs over 12.2 innings. The freshman dazzled in the Friars’ 6-1 win over UMBC on Friday, throwing a one-run complete game, striking out 11 to get the victory. In her next start, Twomey threw four scoreless innings versus UNCW, striking out five. Overall, she has a 1.67 ERA for the season across 21.0 innings pitched to go along with 22 strikeouts.
Honor Roll
Katie Petran, Fr., P, Butler
Petran threw two complete-game victories over the weekend, including allowing just two runs across a six-strikeout performance in Butler’s 3-2 win against Le Moyne on Saturday.
Ella White, Jr., Util., Butler
White went 9-for-16 (.563) with three doubles, a home run, six RBI and seven runs scored across five games for Butler. Her two-run homer ended up being the difference maker in the Bulldogs’ 3-2 win over Le Moyne on Saturday.
Meghan O’Neil, Gr., P, Connecticut
O’Neil pitched nine innings across four appearances on the weekend, allowing three runs while striking out nine. Her 2.33 ERA on the week led the Huskies pitching staff.
Sofia Peterson, So., INF/C, Providence
Peterson tallied three runs, five RBI and five hits in nine at-bats on the weekend. The sophomore recorded an impressive 1.111 slugging percentage and a .667 on base percentage through four games.
Kyra Kreuscher, So., P, Seton Hall
Kreuscher picked up the win for Seton Hall in Saturday's 4-2 victory over New Mexico State. The sophomore went the distance in the circle, allowing five hits and just two runs while striking out two.
