Butler Edges Creighton 99-98

Three Games Set For Saturday

MBB Minute – In a game where both teams shot over 54 percent from the floor and six players scored at least 20 points, Butler emerged with a 99-98 victory at No. 13 Creighton. The game was the highest scoring league game in the regular season since at least the 2010-11 season.

The Bulldogs (15-7, 6-5 BIG EAST), who have won four in a row, had to play without point guard Posh Alexander, who sat out with a foot injury. Nevertheless, the Butler offense rolled and was led by Jahmyl Telfort, who scored 26 points. DJ Davis added 22 points. Steven Ashworth and Baylor Scheierman each had 26 points for the Bluejays (16-6, 7-4). Trey Alexander had 22 points and Ryan Kalkbrenner scored 20.

Butler outshot Creighton from 3-point range. The Bulldogs made 13-of-22 while the Bluejays were 9-of-25.

Saturday’s three-game slate starts at noon ET on FOX when No. 1 Connecticut plays St. John’s at Madison Square Garden. The Huskies own a nine-game winning streak. The Red Storm are 9-2 this season in home games.

At 2 p.m., Georgetown hosts Marquette on FS1. The Golden Eagles have won five in a row while the Hoyas want to snap a five-game losing streak.

Later in the evening, Xavier travels to DePaul for a 9:30 p.m. tip, also on FS1. The Musketeers are coming off an 88-77 win over St. John’s while the Blue Demons are still looking for their first league win.
