Second Annual BIG EAST Female Forward Women’s Basketball Broadcast Set For Wednesday

NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference will partner with Invesco QQQ and member school Marquette University to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Feb. 7, culminating with a ‘female forward’ broadcast as the Golden Eagles host Georgetown in women’s basketball at 9 p.m. ET. The game will air on FS1 and feature an entirely female crew, including talent and production. This marks the second year in a row the BIG EAST has celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day by airing an all-female game.

“The BIG EAST is proud to work alongside Marquette to celebrate the many important roles women play in the sports world,” said BIG EAST Commissioner Val Ackerman. "We are also grateful to Invesco QQQ for choosing to partner with the BIG EAST in our shared commitment to advancing women's sports. The BIG EAST and our broadcasting partner FOX Sports recognize the importance of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, and having an all-female national broadcast on that day is one way we can highlight the annual observance.”

A pregame networking reception will be held in the Al McGuire Academic Center, followed by a conference women’s basketball match-up as Marquette hosts Georgetown. Both teams will take a moment during the game to honor the late Georgetown head coach Tasha Butts, who passed away last October after a hard-fought battle against breast cancer.

The FS1 broadcast will include Kim Adams serving as game analyst and Lisa Byington handling play-by-play duties, while Isis Young will serve as sideline reporter. In the TV truck, Carol Langley will produce while Lindsey Ploszaj will direct. The production crew, including camera operators, replay operators, audio and graphics teams and technical director, will be entirely female led. The game officials will also be an entirely female lineup.

In addition to serving as the presenting sponsor of this year’s female forward broadcast, Invesco QQQ is also the title sponsor of the 2024 BIG EAST Women’s Coach of the Year Award which will be announced prior to the BIG EAST Tournament at Mohegan Sun Arena.
