UNCASVILLE, Conn. - Azana Baines had 17 points and seven rebounds as No. 7 seed Seton Hall defeated No. 10 seed DePaul in the opening round of the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Micah Gray had 16 points and hit four of Seton Hall's 13 3-pointers as the Pirates won their conference tournament opener for the third season in a row.

DePaul had pulled within three points in the third quarter before a 3-pointer from Savannah Catalon and another one by Gray had the Pirates up by nine going into the fourth quarter.

DePaul (12-20) rallied from six points down to take a lead on a steal and layup by Katlyn Gilbert early in the second quarter. However, Seton Hall used a 12-2 run to take a double-digit lead after consecutive 3-pointers by Catalon and Brazil Harvey-Carr. A late 3-pointer from I'yanna Hops gave Seton Hall the 11-point lead at halftime.
