BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Norah Sis, Sr., OH, Creighton
Sis averaged 4.43 kills, 2.00 digs, 0.71 blocks, and 0.14 aces on .303 hitting to lead Creighton to back-to-back Top 10 wins and the Jayhawk Classic title. The BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year registered 15 kills, seven digs, and two blocks in a 3-1 victory over No. 6 Purdue. She followed this performance with 16 kills on 31 errorless swings, hitting a season-best .516, with seven digs, three blocks, a pair of assists, and an ace as the Bluejays swept No.10 Kansas.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Kiara Reinhardt, Sr., MB, Creighton
Reinhardt posted 1.57 blocks and 0.86 digs while contributing 1.86 kills per set on .524 hitting as the Bluejays picked up a pair of consecutive Top 10 wins for the first time in program history. Versus No. 6 Purdue (W, 3-1), Reinhardt registered eight kills, six blocks, and five digs. Against No. 10 Kansas (W, 3-0), the Wisconsin product posted five blocks with five kills while hitting .714. Her play helped hold the Jayhawks to a season-low .171 after leading the nation in hitting percentage entering the weekend.
BIG EAST Setter of the Week
Kendra Wait, Sr., S, Creighton
Wait supplied a nation-leading 13.71 assists per set in victories over No. 6 Purdue (W, 3-1) and No. 10 Kansas (W, 3-0). The reigning BIG EAST Player of the Year added 3.71 digs, 1.29 blocks, and 0.86 kills per set on .267 hitting for a double-double in each match. Against the Boilermakers, she registered a season-high 51 assists with 11 digs, six blocks, and five kills. In the battle of the birds, Wait recorded 45 assists, 15 digs, three blocks, an ace and a kill to help the Bluejays hit a season-best .426 against the Jayhawks.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Jaya Johnson, RS Fr., MB/RS, Creighton
Johnson averaged 2.71 kills, 0.86 digs, and 0.57 blocks per set on .438 hitting this weekend. Against No. 6 Purdue (W, 3-1), she hit .412 with 10 kills, five digs, and a block. In the sweep of the tenth-ranked Jayhawks, the Kansas native hit .467 with nine kills and three blocks.
Honor Roll
Doga Kutlu, Sr., S, UConn
Kutlu contributed 9.90 assists and 3.10 digs per set as the Huskies enjoyed a 3-0 weekend to conclude non-conference play with an unblemished 12-0 record. She was the assist leader in all three matches, logging 41 against New Hampshire (W, 3-1), 29 versus Brown (W, 3-0), and 29 in a sweep of Central Connecticut State.
Jill Pressly, Gr., OH, DePaul
Pressly led the BIG EAST this week, notching 4.50 kills per set as DePaul went 2-1 at the Chicago Cup. The graduate outside hitter also added 22 digs, three blocks, and three service aces on the weekend.
Erin Jones, Jr., RS/S, St. John’s
Jones averaged 4.44 kills and 3.06 digs per set as the Red Storm enjoyed a 4-0 week. Additionally, the junior contributed 12 assists, 10 service aces, and three blocks in victories over Fairfield (3-2), Iona (3-0), LIU (3-0), and Bryant (3-2). The Jack Kaiser Classic All-Tournament selection produced double-doubles in three of her four outings.
Wiktoria Kowalczyk, Sr., S, St. John’s
Kowalczyk anchored St. John’s offense to an undefeated week with 11.25 assists per set, adding 25 digs and seven service aces on the week. The Jack Kaiser Classic Most Valuable Player notched a double-double in a sweep of Iona, dishing out 40 helpers with 10 digs.
Campbell McKinnon, Fr., MB, Villanova
McKinnon contributed 3.00 kills per set on .567 hitting with seven digs and seven blocks as Villanova picked up a pair of wins over Temple (W, 3-0) and Rhode Island (W, 3-0) to secure the Wildcat Challenge title. She led Villanova with 12 kills on .550 hitting against the Owls before notching six kills on .600 hitting with a match-best five blocks versus the Rams.
