BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Sophia Ugo, UConn, Sr., F (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
UConn senior forward Sophia Ugo helped lead the Huskies to wins over No. 13 St. Joseph's and New Hampshire with three goals and one assist. In the season opener against St. Joseph's, Ugo pitched in two goals including the game winner with two minutes remaining in overtime. Her third goal of the weekend came at the 8:10 mark to tie New Hampshire 2-2 before adding an assist at the 38:12 mark that helped lead the Huskies to a 6-2 win.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Suus Broers, Old Dominion, So., GK (Utrecht, The Netherlands)
Old Dominion sophomore goalkeeper Suus Broers started the season with two shutouts. In a 3-0 win over Richmond, Suus recorded a full 60 minutes in goal with three saves. The team's second win was a 3-0 beating of Hofstra.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Juul Sauer, UConn, Fr., F (Den Haag, Netherlands)
In her first collegiate action, Sauer pitched in three goals, including two in UConn's win over St. Joseph's. Her third goal came less than a minute into the contest with New Hampshire. She helped lead the Huskies to a 2-0 opening weekend.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Martu Cian, Liberty, Sr., F (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
In Liberty's 2-0 opening weekend, Cian scored a team-best three goals. She notched her second career hat trick in No. 11 Liberty's 4-1 win over Kent State. Cian now ranks No. 13 in school history for career goals.
Frederique Zandbergen, Old Dominion, Sr., M (Tilburg, Netherlands)
Zandbergen had three assists and one goal in Old Dominion's double shutout over Richmond and Hofstra. Her goal helped lead the team to victory against Hofstra where the Monarchs had 19 shots, 13 on target and the majority of possession in the opposing team's side of the field.
Halle Aschenbach, Temple, Jr., M (Fairfield, N.J.)
Aschenbach recorded two goals and two assists in Temple's 2-0 opening weekend. She scored the first goal of the season for the Owls, helping them to a 7-0 win over Queens. She had another goal in their 6-0 win at Lock Haven. The goals were the first of her career.
Ella Murphy, Liberty, Gr., D (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada)
Murphy scored the game-winning goal in Liberty's 2OT win over Indiana. She also assisted Cian's first quarter goal on a penalty corner in the win over Kent State. Murphy and the Liberty defensive unit yielded only two goals and 10 total shots in 135:27 of action across the two games.
Devin Kinzel, Temple, Sr., M (Virginia Beach, Va.)
In Temple's 2-0 opening weekend, Kinzel scored a pair of goals and helped to anchor a defense that allowed zero goals and just four total shots in wins against Queens and Lock Haven. She played 109 of 120 possible minutes.
