NEW YORK – Marquette guard Kam Jones has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Georgetown forward-center Thomas Sorber has been tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Jones helped the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 week while Sorber continued to shine for the Hoyas in a 1-1 week.

Kam Jones, Marquette, G, Sr.
Jones takes weekly honors for the third time this season after leading the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 week with a 76-59 win at Seton Hall and an 87-84 victory over Villanova. He averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 52.0 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from 3-point range.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Thomas Sorber, Georgetown, F-C, Fr.
Sorber earns Freshman of the Week honors for the fifth time this season. In a 1-1 week, he averaged 20.0 points and 13.0 rebounds. Sorber matched his collegiate scoring high with 25 points and grabbed a career-best 15 rebounds in a 78-68 loss at Providence. He has seven double-doubles this season.
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Jahmyl Telfort, Butler, F, Gr. – Averaged 21.5 points on 51-percent shooting in a 1-1 week. Had 25 points in an OT loss (80-78) at UConn.
Solo Ball, UConn, G, So. – Averaged 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and made eight 3-pointers in a 1-1 week. Posted his first career double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds in a loss at Xavier (76-72).
Ryan Kalkbrenner, Creighton, C, Sr. – Averaged 18.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in a 2-0 week. Made 12-of-13 of his 2-point shot attempts. Had 23 points, nine boards and three blocks in a win over Seton Hall (79-54).
Micah Peavy, Georgetown, G, Gr. – In a 1-1 week, averaged 25.6 points on 60.0 percent shooting from the field. Had 24 points, including six 3-pointers in a win at Villanova (64-63).
Kadary Richmond, St. John’s, G, Gr. – In an OT win over Xavier (79-71), posted 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.
